Temple of Horus

Run forward, up the ramp, into the chamber ahead. To the left is a cage containing some kind of creature. Turn right and step forward and Lara will look at the hieroglyphics on the wall with two wavy lines.
Large Waterskin
Pick up the large waterskin (1) which lies at the feet of a skeleton. The scales ahead has a vase on the left arm and a feather on the right. The puzzle is to put the correct amount of water into the vase. The two wavy lines on the wall indicate that Lara must pour two litres into the vase. The small waterskin holds three litres while the large waterskin holds five. Lara can pour water from one waterskin into the other by combining them. Lara can fill the waterskins at the pool and empty them on the ground.

To complete this puzzle make sure the small waterskin is empty and fill the large waterskin. Now pour the contents of the large waterskin to fill the small waterskin. This should leave two litres of water in the large waterskin. Walk up to the vase and pour the contents of the large waterskin into it.

If Lara pours the correct amount of water into the vase, the grate on the floor will open, otherwise the cage will open and release the Ammit (1) into the room1. Reverse roll, run forward and drop into the newly opened hole in the floor.

Turn left and run forward. Draw pistols and run forward. Kill two bats (2, 3) in the next room. Take a standing jump and grab onto the pole. Slide down until Lara's toes are above the neck of the opening to the room below. Spikes will shoot out of holes in the walls of the opening. Wait until the spikes start to recede to slide down to the room below.

Back flip off of the pole and draw pistols. Kill two more bats (4, 5) in the chamber below2. When the bats are dead, turn and exit this chamber through the tunnel to the north. To the left is another cage containing another Ammit (6) and to the right a set of scales.

Turn right and run forward. Look at the hieroglyphics on the wall to see four wavy lines. This means Lara requires four litres of water to pour into the vase, and Lara can only pour into the vase once.

To obtain the correct amount of water, start by emptying the small waterskin. Fill the large waterskin using one of the small pools. Now pour the contents of the large waterskin into the small one. This will fill the small waterskin and leave two litres of water in the large waterskin. Empty the small waterskin and pour the two litres into the small waterskin. Now fill the large waterskin again and pour it into the small waterskin. Lara should be left with four litres in the large waterskin.

Pour the four litres of water from the large waterskin into the vase to balance it. The grate in the floor will open. Reverse roll, run forward, and drop into the hole. Turn left, draw pistols and run into the next chamber to kill three bats (7, 8, 9).

Take a standing jump and grab onto the pole. Slide down until Lara's toes are just above the spikes. Wait until the spikes begin to recede, and slide down into the chamber below. Back flip off the pole, draw pistols and kill three more bats (10, 11, 12).

Turn and exit this chamber through the tunnel to the north. Lara will once again find a cage to the left that contains another Ammit (13). To the right is another set of scales.

Again, turn right and run forward toward the scales. Examine the hieroglyphics on the wall to find only one wavy line, which means that this time only one litre is required. Start by emptying the small waterskin. Fill the small water skin and empty it into the large waterskin. Fill the small waterskin again, and pour two thirds of its contents into the large waterskin, leaving one litre on the small waterskin.

Pour the contents of the small waterskin into the vase and the scales will balance and the grate in the floor will open. Reverse roll and drop down into the hole. Turn right and run forward.

Lara will find the beam of blue light that streams down from the pyramid above. Take a standing jump and grab onto the wall ahead. Climb down, past several levels, until Lara reaches the bottom of the scaleable wall. Shift to the right and release onto a small ledge.

Lara will scan the room to find a statue of Horus standing in the beam of light below. Turn right so that Lara is facing north. Take a running jump off the ledge to splash down into the water below.

Flip turn and surface. Swim over to the rock island in the middle of the chamber and pull up onto the island. Place one holy scripture on each of the four pedestals that surround Horus. Now walk up to the front of the statue of Horus.

Lara begins to place the pieces of the armor of Horus onto the statue. She starts by placing the greaves onto the statues legs, then she replaces breastplate, and then the gauntlets. She finally places the Amulet of Horus onto the chest of the statue.

In the night sky above, a radiant light begins to shine. From the light a glistening translucent falcon flies down ward into the Great Pyramid. Lara looks up in awe to watch the great falcon approach. It's a sight enough to drop her jaw. The falcon streaks down the blue beam of light, past levels of the pyramid until it reaches the statue of Horus. The statue's gray stone becomes the sleek black skin of Horus.

Meanwhile, swarms of locusts begin to converge on the Great Pyramid. The swarm enters the pyramid through openings and envelop Horus. Horus suddenly explodes, blasting Lara back. The amulet flies off, skitters across the rock island and plops into the water. The rock island is showered with sparks from the explosion. When Lara's vision clears she finds that instead of Horus, Seth is standing in the place of the statue.

Seth begins to gloat, "My wicked cousin is once again returned to the stars. It is I who shall rule over this world once more. Come forth and kneel and bow before your god before he extinguishes your worthless life."

Amulet of Horus
Seth3 (14) will float around and launch volleys of blue bolts. There is a delay between volleys for it to recharge, and there will be a warning hum just before it fires. Immediately turn right, run north and drop into the water. Swim down to the bottom of the water to pick up the Amulet of Horus (2). Turn left and swim around to the left until Lara reaches the southwest side of this cavern where there is a small ledge she can pull up.

Run forward and take a standing jump over the steep slope. Follow the path around to the left until Lara comes to an open gate. Turn right and enter the small cave and take a hairpin turn around to the left. Pick up a pair of Uzi clips (3) from behind the open gate and reverse roll to face the lever in the small cave. Wait until Seth fires his blue bolts and then run to the lever.

Pull it and side flip to the right to avoid another volley of Seth's bolts. Reverse roll and, if necessary, wait for another volley of Seth's bolts. Quickly run out of the small cave and angle Lara to the right. Take a running jump off the ledge and drop into the water.

Swim over to the northeast side of the cavern. Pull up onto another small ledge and run forward. Take a standing jump over a steep slope and run forward. Follow the ledge as it turns to the left and when Lara comes to another open gate, turn right and enter the small cavern.

Take a hairpin turn to the left and pick up a small Medi Pack (4). Reverse roll, and wait for one volley of Seth's blue bolts. Run forward, throw the switch and take a side flip to the right. Some apparatus will move somewhere else in the pyramid.

Reverse roll, wait for a volley of Seth's bolts and run out of the cavern. Angle Lara to the right and jump into the water again. Swim to the small ledge at the southwestern corner of the chamber.

Pull up out of the water and run forward. Take a standing jump over the slope and follow the ledge. This time, instead of entering the cavern, take a running jump to eastward off of the ledge. Lara will land on a ledge at the southeast corner of the chamber.

Follow the ledge around to the left and take a running jump to grab onto a thin ledge on the eastern wall above. Run across the thin ledge and take a running jump and grab the ledge ahead, which also protrudes from the eastern wall.

Run forward and take a standing jump over a steep ledge. Run forward, and follow the ledge as it turns to the left. When Lara comes to a flat ledge, vault up onto it. Turn right and take another jump over a steep ledge.

Take a hairpin turn to the left to grab a small Medi Pack (5). Quickly turn around, run forward and turn right. Angle Lara for a ledge that protrudes out of the wall and take a running jump and grab the ledge. Pull up and run across the ledge and angle Lara to the left.

Take a blind running jump so that Lara travels to the left of a rock formation that sticks down from the ceiling of the chamber. Turn right, follow the ledge to the other end, and then turn right. Take a running jump off the end of the ledge and grab the bottom edge of a crawlspace.

Quickly pull up into a crouched position and crawl inside4. Follow the crawlspace as it winds to the left, back to the right, and to the right once more. When Lara reaches the end of the crawlspace, turn right to face away from the opening.

Have Lara lower herself out of the opening and reverse roll. Follow the ledge as it bends to the right. Take a running jump and grab onto the ledge ahead. Pull up, turn right and run forward. Turn left, take a running jump and grab onto the rock face ahead.

Shift to the right until Lara is in the beam of blue light. Seth's blue bolts will not harm Lara while she is within the blue light. Climb up until Lara is on top of the small square ledge. Turn left and climb up onto the wall. Shift to the left so that Lara is in the blue beam again, and climb up.

Lara will climb up into the chamber above and back flip over the golden apparatus that she activated earlier. She steps forward and places the amulet of Horus into the golden apparatus, which will cause the three gold triangular flaps to snap shut and seal.(follow plot)

Turn around and exit this chamber through the open gateway to the east. Walk carefully up the steps until three stone blocks slide back and forth in the tunnel. Press Lara against the right side of the tunnel and wait for the block to shift to the left. Take a standing jump past the sliding blocks.

Repeat the timed jumps with Lara pressed against the right side of the tunnel two more times to clear the other two sliding blocks in this tunnel. When Lara reaches the mouth of the tunnel, look up to see a few stones on the ceiling with dark skulls carved on them. Avoid stepping beneath them as they will fall down.

Step forward two blocks and then side step to the right and continue forward until Lara comes to a spiked pit. Take a running jump across the right side of the pit and grab onto the opposite rim. Pull up, step forward and turn left. Walk between the two columns to avoid another falling block.

Turn right and walk forward. Take another running jump over the spiked pit and grab the crevice on the opposite wall. Shimmy to the right and pull up. Step forward, turn right, step forward and then left. Walk forward until Lara comes to another spiked pit.

Take a running jump over the pit and grab the opposite rim. Shimmy all the way to the left until Lara can pull up on the left side of the pit. Step forward two blocks and side step to the right one block.

Run forward into the darkness to exit the Great Pyramid.

Outside the pyramid the desert sky is clear and calm. Only a shooting start streaking across the dawning sky disturbs the scene. Lara is exhausted when she reaches the opening of the tunnel. Her steps are slow and heavy. She labors to catch her breath.

When Lara reaches sunlight, a dark shadow falls across her face, and she squints to make out the form. A moment of dread washes over Lara as she recognizes that it is Von Croy standing at the mouth of the tunnel as the ground begins to rumble. Von Croy is waving his arm, motioning for Lara to come.

"Quickly girl," Von Croy calls, "Before it collapses around you!" Lara falls backwards a few steps as the ground shakes more violently and some rubble falls from the ceiling of the tunnel.

Lara calls out, asking, "You back, Werner? No more Seth?"

Von Croy is amazed by her persistence and yells, "No time! Your hand, Lara. Give me your hand!"

Lara hesitates a moment to consider whether Von Croy is telling the truth. Suddenly she is left without a choice at all as the stairs beneath her feet begin to fall way. She quickly dashes up the remaining steps as they fall away. She leaps off the last step with only enough force for her to grab onto the threshold of the opening.

"Take may hands," Von Croy yells. His voice is urgent and tense, "I can pull you to safety!"

"Good to see you again, Werner," Lara calls tiredly.

"I couldn't leave you," Von Croy tells her former pupil.

He attempts to reach down to her when the ground shakes more violently. He looks up and sees huge blocks crashing down toward him as the entire entrance begins to close like a great limestone mouth. Von Croy, turns and retreats from the stones. When he turns to look back, the dust is beginning to settle and the tomb is sealed shut with Lara inside.

Von Croy removes his hat, lowers his eyes and sighs a deep bitter sigh.

Footnotes:
  1. For fun, you can pour the wrong amount into the vase and fight the guardian. But I found it hard to kill and a pain to have to fill and refill the waterskins, so we leave it as an exercise for the reader.

  2. An alternative method for dealing with the bats is to jump to the pole, wait until the bats flutter up from below and then back flip off the pole. Draw pistols and shoot the bats. The bats sometimes retreat back down into the lower chamber, so this method will require a little patience.

  3. You can't kill Seth using weapons, but we're marking it as a kill because it's an enemy.

  4. This would be a great place to save your game if you haven't done so lately.
