| Below the coastal ruins lies The Lost Library, which is a veritable warehouse of ancient knowledge and technology. | |||
Sights to See |
The ancient Egyptians acquired knowledge of astronomy, mechanics,
electricity, and music. Reeds were readily available at the coast
line, and so papyrus scrolls were easy to manufacture. The sum of their knowledge was gathered in a legendary library, here in Alexandria, but lost for centuries. You are the first to set foot in this library of antiquities. Knowledge was the treasure hidden here, and the Egyptians used their knowledge to guard their treasure. As you explore the library, watch your step and use your head. |
||
Library Guardians |
The library guardians stem from two different ancient Egyptian disciplines. Mechanical guards are the result of Egyptian engineering. Fire elementals were summoned by Egyptian magicians.
Souvenirs
|
There are man artifacts to find here in the library. You'll need the gem from the mechanical horseman, three Golden Stars, and the Music scroll to make your way through the Library. The Fire Circle Scroll is unnecessary if you're sharp-minded. Ultimately, you're here to find the Pharos Pillar, which you will need later.
Hidden Treasures |
There are three secrets. The first is hidden deep within a place you'll probably not even think of visiting. You'll see the apparatus that blocks access to the second secret, but you'll have to figure out how to operate the apparatus. You'll likely slide right past the third secret if you're not careful.
Hazards |
The mechanical guards are actually not as hard to deal with as it will first seem. Almost all of them can be killed quite readily with just pistols. Only the mechanical horseman will be a real problem. After the mechanical guards, there are fire elementals and a few traps to deal with. The traps are readily visible, so very few should surprise you. You just have to get past them.
