When Lara enters the KV5 excavation site, the jeep will careen to a
stop at the bottom of the tomb entrance1. Exit the jeep on the left, turn around and
walk forward to pick up two boxes of wideshot shotgun shells (1). Turn right, step forward, and pick up
another box of wideshot shotgun shells (2) and a large Medi Pack (3). Be careful not to approach the Land Rover,
as the occupants of that vehicle will continue to toss grenades at
Lara. Climb back into the jeep and drive it forward. Angle the Jeep to the left to drive around the stone block in the middle of the room and continue forward into the tunnel ahead, being careful to avoid the grenades being dropped by the other vehicle. Once Lara is in the tunnel, take a hard left and drive the Jeep up the slope. Continue driving the Jeep forward, past the large statues of pharaohs on the right, and accelerate the Jeep hard into the tunnel ahead and slightly to the left. When Jeep emerges on the other side of the short tunnel, quickly drive the Jeep forward and knock down the supports of the wooden platform to knock the Egyptian mercenary (1) down from the platform. Take a tight loop to the right and circle around the sandy mound to run down the mercenary before he knows what hit him, being careful to avoid the spiked pit on the left side of the mound. |

SECRET #1
|
Exit the Jeep and walk over to the rock arch that leads out of this clearing, which is in the northwest corner of the clearing. Climb up onto the stone ledge that is to the right of the tunnel. Walk forward and crouch down. Crawl forward into SECRET #1, and pick up a large Medi Pack (4). Crawl back out of the crevice, drop back to the ground and get back into the Jeep. | ||

Drive the Jeep through the rock arch. Lara will arrive at a large
stone structure with scaffolding all around it. Take an extremely
sharp left turn and drive along the stone wall to knock over the
wooden supports of the scaffolding. Breaking away the scaffolding
will knock another Egyptian mercenary (2)
from his perch on the platform above. Circle around by taking a hard
right and run down the mercenary. When he's dead, exit the Jeep and run to the left side of the large closed gate. Climb into the alcove that is to the left of the gate and pick up a large Medi Pack (5). Reverse roll and run forward to drop down to the ground. Run forward and turn left and run to the opposite wall. Climb up through the opening in the fence to reach the first level of the scaffolding on this opposite wall. Once Lara pulls up, turn left and run to the end of the platform and pick up a box of regular shotgun shells (6). Reverse roll and run to the opposite end of the platform. Draw weapons, preferably the shotgun, when Lara reaches the far end of the platform and turn left. Another Egyptian mercenary (3) will climb over the wooden crate ahead, so blast him quickly. |

SECRET #2
|
Run forward and climb up onto the wooden crate. Run forward and drop down onto the platform behind the crate. Run forward and drop through the opening in the platform ahead into SECRET #2. Reverse roll and run forward. When Lara reaches the corner of the stone structure, turn right. Run forward and pick up a small Medi Pack (7). Continue forward and pick up a large Medi Pack (8) before reverse rolling and heading back. When Lara returns to the corner of the stone structure, turn left. Run forward until Lara reaches the alcove, reverse roll, take a standing jump forward and grab onto the platform above. Pull up, run forward, and climb back over the wooden crate. | ||

Turn and face east, down the length of the platform, and take a hop
backwards. Take a standing jump forward and grab onto the second
level of the scaffolding. Pull up and run forward. About half way
down the length of the wooden platform, turn right and pick up another
large Medi Pack (9). Reverse roll and
walk forward to the edge of the scaffolding. Aim Lara at the rope that is dangling down from the wooden ledge above. Take a running jump and grab to reach the rope. Have Lara swing the rope until she can swing across to the opposite wooden platform. Release when Lara is at the apex of her swing and also over the other wooden platform. Turn right and run forward to the lever on the stone wall. Jump up and grab the lever, and the weight of Lara's body will activate the lever which in turn opens the gate. Hop backwards and safety drop to the ground. Turn right and run through the gate. Climb up to the alcove that is just to the left of the archway with the stone ramp that leads upward. When Lara pulls up to that alcove, she can pick up another large Medi Pack (10). Hop backwards and drop to the ground. Turn right and run forward to the second alcove to the right of the stone ramp. Turn left and climb up into the alcove to retrieve a pair of Uzi clips (11). Hop backwards to drop to the ground. Turn and run back through the gate and climb back into the Jeep. Drive the Jeep through the raised gate. The other vehicle will be waiting at the top of the ramp ahead. First stay on the left side of the ramp and drive forward slowly. A large spiked star will drop from a hole in the ceiling of the tunnel and roll down. Allow the spiked star to roll past and also allow the Jeep to roll backwards down the slope. Now turn the Jeep and keep it against the right wall. Drive slowly up the slope and a second spiked star will drop from a hole on the left side of the tunnel. Once again, allow the Jeep to roll backwards and also allow the spiked star to roll safely past. Turn the Jeep back to the left and keep it against the left wall and slowly drive to the top of the ramp. A third spiked star will drop. Allow the spiked star to roll down and avoid any grenades that are being lobbed down from the Land Rover. |

SECRET #3
|
Drive the Jeep to the right and stop the Jeep at the top of the ramp. Exit the Jeep and walk to the hole in the ceiling that the third spiked star fell from. Turn and face up the slope. Jump up, grab the ledge above, and pull up into SECRET #3. Step forward and pick up a box of regular grenades (12). Hop backwards to drop back down to the ramp below and reenter the Jeep. | ||
| Drive the Jeep forward slowly down the steep grade and continue forward to a bend in the pass. Turn the Jeep to the right and drive it forward slowly until the grade of the road drops. Stay against the left wall of the pass to avoid a deep pit. Once Lara is past the pit, steer the Jeep forward and turn left. Drive it forward, between two pits, and turn left once more. | |||
SECRET #4
|
Stop the Jeep before driving down the slope and exit the Jeep. Walk over to the large spiked pit and stand at the southern edge of it. The rock wall is scaleable there, so turn and face away from the pit and hop backwards and climb down the left half of the scaleable rock wall. When Lara comes to a crevice, she will release from her footholds. Continue lowering Lara down the rock wall using just her hands until she can climb no further down. Release from the rock wall and quickly grab the lip of the crevice. Immediately pull up into a crouched position and crawl forward into SECRET #4. Pick up the box of wideshot shotgun shells (13) and turn right. Crawl forward and pick up a quiver of regular crossbow bolts (14). Crawl back to the opening of the crevice and have Lara lower herself out of the hole. Shift to the right and climb back up to the top of the pit. Pull up and reenter the Jeep. | ||

Drive the jeep forward down the steep slope, staying to the left to
avoid a pit on the right near the bottom. At the bottom of the slope,
turn right, being careful to stay clear of the pit and drive up the
right side of the next slope. Slow down as Lara crests the hill and
angle the Jeep to the left. Drive forward diagonally to the left to
avoid two pits, first one on the left, then a second pit on the
right. Straighten the Jeep out by turning back to the right and drive forward. Turn left and drive up the slope and through the rock arch before Lara reaches the end of this valley. Drive the Jeep straight ahead, over the mound of sand, to avoid a pit on the right. Continue straight ahead, over a tall steep sand dune. Avoid the pit on the left and drive forward over the next mound of sand and turn left before Lara reaches the rocks that protrude up from the sand. Stay as far to the right as possible and accelerate the Jeep forward up the steep sand dune. Avoid another pit to the left and drive forward, over the next sandy hill, to the base of an obelisk. There is an Egyptian mercenary (4) that is standing on a wooden platform that surrounds the obelisk. Take a tight circle around the obelisk to knock down all four wooden support pillars. When all four pillars are gone, the platform will fall, dropping the mercenary to the ground. Continue making tight circles around the obelisk to run him down. Continue away from the obelisk, driving south. Drive over two more sand dunes and turn right when Lara comes to the entrance of a tunnel. Accelerate the Jeep hard into the dark tunnel, which will sharply slope upwards. When Lara's Jeep bursts forth from the other end of the steep tunnel, it jumps into the air. A startled lizard scampers away. The Jeep lands in a clearing, and Lara cocks the wheel hard to the left to avoid broadsiding a rock formation. She follows the tracks of the Land Rover though a short stretch of desert and arrives near a river. Lara stops the Jeep and scans the area. The Land Rover has joined with an old red truck and both are parked near a barge, moored at the bank of the river. The two vehicles form a blockade to prevent Lara from reaching the barge. One of the mercenaries spots Lara and calls to his comrades. Lara wastes no time. She backs the Jeep up and then accelerates the Jeep toward the road block. They draw rifles and guns and open fire on the Jeep. Bullets riddle holes in the Jeeps fender and front grille, but Lara remains unfazed. One of the mercenaries removes a long crate from the Land Rover and opens it to reveal a rocket launcher. He quickly raises it to take aim on Lara. Lara's eyes widen in a moment of fear when she sees the thug with the rocket launcher, but she quickly recaptures her determination and accelerates the Jeep even harder while drawing her pistol. She fires but one shot, and hits the mercenary with the rocket launcher in the arm. He falls backward and the rocket launcher explodes in his hands, blowing apart the blockade, and causing the men to dive for cover. The barge has already begun to move away from the commotion, so Lara blasts the Jeep through the debris that was formerly the red truck, launches the Jeep off a sand dune, through a closed wooden gate and into the air. The Jeep sails a short distance and lands on the barge, scaring pigs and chickens to scramble off in every direction. The Jeep skids to a stop, just short of falling off the bow of the barge. After the barge has left, an old dark Cadillac2 pulls up to the very weary band of mercenaries and what remains of the vehicles. A man dressed in a white suit, wielding a walking stick steps out of the old Caddy. The man is none other than Werner Von Croy. He looks over the men and shakes his head. "Fools," Von Croy exclaims. "The Croft woman has outsmarted you, ja? And now she escapes!" He gestures toward the barge with his walking stick. Ahmed, looks up from tending to the wounds on another mans arm and tells Von Croy, "The amulet, Herr Von Croy, it talks of the priest Semerkhet." Von Croy hears the name and growls it again, "Semerkhet." Meanwhile, Lara has continued on in her journeys. By nightfall she arrives at the home of an old friend. Crickets are chirping when she stops the Jeep in front of a small house, kills the ignition, and climbs out of the Jeep. She enters the house. Outside a moth flitters around, repeatedly bumping into a lantern. Inside, a middle-aged slightly overweight man inside the house is surprised by his visitor. He exclaims, "Mon Dieu3, Lara!?" Lara gives him a warm embrace and a kiss on the cheek, "Jean Yves, my faithful friend." Jean Yves asks, "I fear this is not a social visit?" Lara steps past him and looks out the front window. Lara's voice grows as cold as ice, "Only if you want Van Croy gatecrashing the party." Jean Yves is perplexed and asks, "Van Croy?" Lara flops onto the couch, "I think he was looking for this." Lara holds up the Amulet of Horus, which is wrapped in a cloth. As the cloth falls away from the Amulet, Jean Yves recognizes Lara's find, "The Amulet of Horus, an almost legendary artifact." Lara sets the amulet on Jean Yves' coffee table. A furrow forms on his brow as he turns away, "So you have found and opened the tomb of Seth. This doesn't bode well." Jean Yves moves over to a bookcase where a set of tattered manuscripts are laid out. He turns on a lamp to read from the manuscript, "Translating from the Hebrew, 'He who removes the amulet shall once more release the dark power of Seth. And Seth sayeth: "I am the shadow across the sun. I am the bringer of plagues. My wrath will consume all lands and shall be ceaseless." The power to summon the sun god, Horus to bind the evil Seth, shall only be revealed to the bearer of the amulet within the temple of Semerkhet at Karnak. The ceremony is complete as the Armor of Horus summons the sun god'" As Jean Yves reads the manuscript, visions of the ancient gods and temples pour through Lara's mind. Jean Yves is now preparing dinner and ponders aloud, "The armor of Horus. At the dig site in Alexandria, my men talk fearfully of this." He opens the refrigerator and hunts around for something. Lara adds, "The armor must also be Van Croy's goal." Jean Yves produces a bottle of Des Vino el Class en Rouge de Blanche While Jean Yves adds the wine to the stew, he states, "Only one so ignorant of the prophecies would dabble with such a prehistoric evil." He turns to Lara, "Ah yes, releasing Seth. But how could you have known, my dear?" Lara's determination is fueled by Jean Yves words. She tells him, "Time to put things right and remove the thorn in my side in the process. Lara leaves Jean Yves standing in his kitchen and drives off. (follow plot) |
