All Hallows

Lara returns to her home in Surrey, England, and while unpacking her backpack, she finds the gold and jewel encrusted Cathedral Key.

Lara takes the key up to her library and examines it carefully. Based on the Judeo-Christian engravings and other features, she determines the key as belonging to the All Hallows Cathedral. Lara decides to return the ornate key to where it belongs so that it can be put on display for the public to see.

One evening a few days later, Lara drives to London to make a call on the All Hallows cathedral. However, when she arrives, she finds the building surrounded by police and the adjoining streets barricaded. Lara approaches a police officer and asks, "Excuse me I'd like to go inside All Hallows, could you tell me what's going on here?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am," the officer replies. "I can't allow you near All Hallows, much less inside. We have a situation here. Some lunatic has barricaded himself somewhere inside the tower with quite an arsenal and he's shooting at people below. We've evacuated the church, but we're having difficulty locating him."

Over her conversation, Lara can hear other policemen talking into a megaphone and attempting to negotiate with the crazed gunman. Suddenly both her conversation and the negotiations are interrupted by a huge explosion. Lara and the officer duck for cover as small pieces of debris rain down upon and around them.

The officer stands back up, but finds Lara is gone.

Night has fallen and Lara is back in her car. In the darkness she quickly changes into the black outfit she had left in the car. Lara knows that All Hallows is filled with hidden rooms and tunnels, and it may take the police much too long to locate where the gunman is hiding. Unwilling to let harm befall an innocent passerby or any of the historic buildings in the City, Lara climbs out of her car and heads towards All Hallows.

Lara climbs up an exterior fire escape and heads up to the rooftop to enter the cathedral through the roof. (follow plot)



Lara's return to London will begin with her sliding down a tunnel1. After Lara lands, run forward and turn right again. Run forward and climb up onto the small wall. Walk forward, jump and grab the ledge above. Take a running jump to the next catwalk. Walk forward and turn right. Walk to the end of the catwalk and take a running jump and grab to reach the next section of catwalk. Turn right and walk forward. Take a running jump to the next catwalk.

Side step to the right and vault up to the next ledge. Walk forward and angle Lara to the left. Take a standing jump to the angled ledge. Turn left and walk backwards. Jump straight up and grab the mesh above. Swing forward and when Lara is just past the small fence, release to land on the column. Bats will fly out of the crawlspace ahead. Walk forward and take a standing jump and grab to reach the crawlspace.

Pull up into the crawlspace and pick up a small Medi Pack (1). Crawl forward and turn around. Have Lara lower herself down into the alcove. Step backwards and collect a crystal (2). Step forward and climb back into the crawlspace. Crawl forward to the end of the crawlspace and turn around. Have Lara lower herself out of the crawlspace and safety drop down to the ground. Lara will take damage from the fall.

Turn right and run past the column. Turn right again and run forward until Lara is just past the visible crevice in the left wall. Turn left and face the wall to the right of the crevice. Back Lara up, so that her heels are against the dome of the cathedral. Take a back flip and grab to reach the practically invible crevice2. Shimmy left until Lara can pull up into the crawlspace.

Crawl forward and turn around. Have Lara lower herself out of the crawlspace. Reverse roll and walk forward. Vault up onto the next ledge and turn right. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the wire mesh ceiling. Swing forward, over the spikes, across to the small ledge beyond the spikes. Lara will drop onto the ledge when she reaches the end of the mesh. Collect the crystal (3) and pick up the box of flares (4).

Turn around and take a standing jump and grab to return to the wire mesh. Swing back to the to other ledge and drop to it. Turn left and drop into the lower pit. Climb back up into the crawlspace. Crawl forward and turn around. Have Lara lower herself down to the ground. Turn right and run until Lara is beneath the tunnel that she slid in from.

Turn right, run forward and climb up onto the small wall. Walk forward, jump and grab the ledge above. Take a running jump to the next catwalk. Walk forward and turn right. Walk to the end of the catwalk and take a running jump and grab to reach the next section of catwalk. Turn right and walk forward. Take a running jump to the next catwalk.

Side step to the right and vault up to the next ledge. Walk forward and angle Lara to the left. Take a standing jump to the angled ledge. Turn right and walk forward. Jump up and grab the ledge above. Pull up, turn left and walk forward to the edge of the ledge. Pull up to the the high ledge and pick up the Uzi clips (5). Hop backwards, and drop back to the ledge below. Turn around and walk forward to the edge. Angle Lara to the left and take a standing jump to the small angled ledge.

Turn left and take a running jump and grab to reach the next ledge. Pull up and walk forward. Pick up the box of flares (6). Reverse roll and walk forward to the end of the ledge. Angle Lara to the left and take a running jump over to the high column. Turn left and walk to the fence. Jump up and grab the mesh above. Swing forward, but not all the way to the end of the ledge.

Release to land on the sloped ledge below. Lara will slide backwards and drop down to a broken tile. The tile break out from under Lara and Lara will fall through the ceiling, taking an enormous amount of damage when she lands on a catwalk inside the cathedral.

Turn left and step forward to pick up a large Medi Pack (7). Walk forward to the end of the ledge and angle Lara to the left. Take a running jump to the small ledge that extends from the wall. Pick up the box of flares (8). Turn left and walk forward to the edge of the ledge. Look down to find a small column that extends out from the wall. There is a pit that is set in the top of the wall. Angle Lara slightly to the left to aim for that wall. Hop back and run forward, off the ledge, to land on the wall.

Step forward, dropping into the hole. Pick up a large Medi Pack (9) and a pair of Uzi clips (10). Turn right and climb out of the hole and walk forward to the end of this platform. Angle Lara to the left and take a standing jump over the railing to land on the platform beyond. Run forward until Lara is just past the handrails.

Turn left and safety drop to the brightly lit ledge below. Reverse roll and take running jump and grab to reach the block that protrudes from the central structure. Pull up, turn left and vault up into the central structure. Turn right and aim Lara toward the crevice on the wall. Take a running jump and grab to reach the crevice. Shimmy to the left until Lara can pull up. Pick up the large Medi Pack (11) and step forward to pull the lever to open a door at the ground level.

Reverse roll and walk forward to the edge of the alcove. Side step all the way to the left. Angle Lara such that she is aimed slightly left of the segment of catwalk with the handrails below. Take a running jump out of the alcove, being careful Lara doesn't hit her head on the low ceiling on the right, twist a little to the right in midair to land on the catwalk. Take a running jump to the platform that extends from the wall ahead and pick up the small Medi Pack (12).

Reverse roll and take a running jump back to the piece of catwalk. Hop backwards and safety drop down to the ground. Reverse roll and run forward. Turn left and run forward to enter the doorway that Lara just opened. Run across the three breakaway tiles, which covers a pit of spikes, to the end of hallway. Pull the lever to raise a trapdoor. Reverse roll and walk forward to the edge of the pit. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the mesh on the ceiling. Swing back down the hall to clear the spiked pit.

Run forward out of the hallway and take a hairpin turn to the right. Climb up onto the the platform that is in the middle of all the organ pipes. Turn left and step forward, and turn left again. Take a running jump to the scaffolding next to the central structure. Turn right and jump up and grab the block above. Pull up and turn around. Take a running jump and grab to return to the block that extends from the wall. Climb up to the platform above.

Angle Lara to the left, step forward and climb up into a tunnel. Run to the end of the tunnel and pull a lever to open a trapdoor. Reverse roll and walk forward to the end of hallway. Take a standing jump out of the hallway and grab the mesh on the ceiling. Turn left and swing all the way to the end of the mesh, past the trapdoor that Lara just raised. When Lara reaches the end of the mesh, release and grab the platform below. Pull up to the platform. Turn around, jump and grab to climb up the wire mesh.
Vault Key
Pull up into the hallway above. Run forward and pickup the Vault Key (13). Run to the end of the hallway. Turn around and climb back down the mesh. Release to return to the platform below. Turn right and climb up into the alcove. Turn around and grab onto the handles of the rope slide to slide over the spikes. Release such that Lara lands on the concrete ledge. If Lara lands in the hallway beyond, she will slide out of the cathedral and plummet to her death.

Turn around and walk forward to the edge of the concrete hallway and side step to the right. Turn left and aim Lara toward the crawlspace. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the crawlspace. Pull up into the crawlspace and turn around. Have Lara lower herself down to the ledge below. A secret panel will open. Turn right and vault into the secret passage.

Step forward and drop into the passage. Turn left and drop into the lower passage. Run forward and turn right. Run to the end of this passage and turn right to safety drop to the ledge below. Step backwards and pick up the small Medi Pack (14). Sidestep all the way to the left and walk forward so that Lara is in the corner. Press and hold the action key and run forward one step to safely drop into the field of spikes3.

Carefully walk forward through the field spikes. As Lara passes the post, it will burst into flames. When Lara reaches the end of the field of spikes, step forward to drop into the water. Turn left and swim forward to the corner. Turn right and swim past the metal press as it moves upwards. Surface and turn right and pull up onto the ledge.

Run forward under the flashing red alarm light and crawl into the crawlspace. Turn right and crawl forward until Lara can stand. Turn right and push the button to open a trapdoor in the cathedral. Turn right again and jump up and grab onto the crawlspace above. Pull up into the crawlspace and pick up a small Medi Pack (15). Back up and have Lara lower herself back down.

Crouch down and crawl forward, back into the crawlspace, and turn left. When Lara can stand, take a hairpin turn to the left and climb up the wire mesh. Step forward and jump4 over the yellow trapdoor. Run forward and turn left. Run forward and Lara will be back in the cathedral. The door will close behind Lara after she reenters the cathedral.

Run forward and turn right. Climb up onto the higher ledge and run forward and drop into the trapdoor that Lara opened earlier. Lara will fall down a long shaft into a pool of water. Turn right, surface and pull out of the water. Turn left and step forward5. Just before Lara comes to the door, turn right and shoot out the grate in the corner. Run forward into the tunnel and collect a box of flares (16).

Reverse roll and run forward, out of the tunnel and past the closed doorway on the right. Use the vault key to open the doorway. Side step to the right and enter the newly open doorway. Angle Lara to the left and run forward to the bright corner and pick up the large Medi Pack (17).

Reverse roll and run back, past the open vault door, down the dark passage and drop into the water, which is a flooded catacomb. Turn left and swim forward and turn right and enter a side tunnel before Lara gets to the first corpse. At the next intersection, turn right and swim past two more corpses and turn left. Swim forward and collect a crystal (18). Flip turn and swim forward, turn right and swim past the two corpses.

Continue to swim forward past the last corpse and surface. Pull out of the water to the right of the flaming barrel. Draw weapons and kill a guard (1) and a mongrel (2) being careful to avoid the flaming barrel. Climb the wire mesh through the trapdoor that Lara opened much earlier. Pull up into the crypt above. Turn right and run towards the room with all the objects6.

Immediately start a new game to get all the weapons and unlimited ammunition.



Lara finds the gunman and his dog inside All Hallows and proceeds to end his reign of terror. Based on the man's uniform, he appears to be some kind of disgruntled security guard. Lara climbs up to the tower above where she found the guard and finds a large stash of munitions the guard has squirreled away. Below, an S019 team bursts into the tower ready for a fight, but finds the gunman lying on the ground. The team looks around, somewhat surprised by their anti-climactic entrance.

As the confused officers examine the gunman, Lara slips away unnoticed.

Footnotes:
  1. Because of a crevice below the bottom of this ramp, the designers may have intended that you should take a forward jump and twist when you first slide down the ramp, in order to slide down backwards and grab the bottom. Then you'd release and grab the undetectable crevice below the bottom of the ramp. Please read footnote 2 for additional details.

  2. I noticed that the crevice beside the crawlspace goes all the way to the right, where it ends underneath the entrance tunnel. Perhaps, the level was originally designed such that you were meant to get to the crawlspace directly from the beginning of the level. To do this, as soon as the level begins, press and hold the reverse roll key and jump so that Lara jumps, twists in midair, and slides backwards. Grab the bottom of the ramp. Release and immediately grab a crevice just below. Shimmy to the left until Lara can pull up into a crawlspace. Most likely you will want to save the crystal inside the crawlspace for later so we describe a method at a later point in the walkthrough.

  3. The correct way to get across this trap is probably to take a standing jump and grab the wire mesh on the ceiling. At which point, Lara must be careful to then avoid the wooden post which will burst into flames as Lara passes it. This is actually much easier.

  4. If you have trouble spacing this jump, take a standing jump and press the action key to modify Lara's trajectory.

  5. You can shoot out the first grate on the right to reveal a tunnel with two inactive swinging blades that ends at a lever. The lever is used to activate the two blades and open the trapdoor that you should have already opened earlier, so you can ignore this switch at this point.

  6. The objects in the room beyond include: grenades (19), MP5 Clips (20), one large Medi Pack (21), two pairs of Desert Eagle clips (22, 23), two rockets (24, 25), and two pairs of Uzi Clips (26, 27). Because these objects are beyond the endpoint of the level, there is no way to pick them up short of patching a saved game.

    We asked Rich Morton, head level designer of TR3, what the story was behind Lara finding all these items at the end of this bonus level. He replied, "We originally intended to allow the player to pick up the items, she could then re-start the game with loads of weapons and ammo. This idea was dropped in favor of giving Lara everything anyway."
