When Lara arrives, she will still be falling from having slid into the bell tower above. Allow Lara to slide off the first slope and immediately jump and grab off the second slope. Lara will not actually grab anything, but instead she she will alter her trajectory and land in an alcove. Run forward and pick up a box of shotgun shells (1). Hop backwards and safety drop into the oily pool of water below.

Surface, swim to the left and pull up out of the water onto the ledge. Run forward up the three flights of stairs, turning right twice. At the top of third flight of stairs, turn right and draw weapons and shoot out the metal grating. Run inside the shaft and collect a crystal1 (2). Climb up the mesh on the right to the next ledge. Climb up the next ledge up to the rafters2.

Turn right and run to the opposite side of the room. Pick up a box of flares (3). Turn left and run forward over two rafters and pick up a box of shotgun shells (4). Continue forward, over two more rafters, into the corner and draw weapons. Turn left and kill a gang member (1) that's wielding a flaming spiked bat that will attack from an alcove on the left. Shoot him down quickly, being sure to keep a distance. After he's dead, collect the pair of Uzi clips (5).

Run forward until Lara reaches the hole that leads down to the ticketing booths below and turn left. Run around the structure to the right to the opposite side of the structure to find another hole that leads down to ticket booth. Pull the block once so that it is in front of the opening to the ticketing area below. Turn around and run back around to the other hole on the left. Drop down onto the ticket machine below. Draw pistols and kill another gang member (2) that is running around the ticket machines. When the gang member is dead, take a standing jump over to the other machine that is near the ticket sales booth.
Maintenance Key
Walk forward to the edge of the machine and jump up and grab the block above. Climb up the block, through the hole. Turn left and hop backwards to safety drop down to the tunnel below. Turn right and run forward to the end of the tunnel. Turn left and climb down and drop into the ticket booth below. Pick up the Maintenance Key (6) from the floor. Turn around and vault up onto the counter and pick up a large Medi Pack (7). Turn around, drop down off the counter, and step forward and press the button to open the door to the ticket machines outside. Exit through the open door, turn left, and enter the ticket area. Collect a small Medi Pack (8) from the dead gang member.

On one side of this room are two tunnels that each lead to a pair of escalators. Head to the right passage and run down the escalator on the right. Walk carefully to the edge and do not fall down to the train tracks. Hop back and take a running jump over the tracks to the dirt covered ledge on the other side. Draw weapons and run forward. When Lara passes the column, turn right. Kill a gang member (3) and a mongrel (4) that will attack.

Continue forward to the far end of this train platform and use the maintenance key in the lock on the right to open the door to the maintenance room. Go around the open door and enter the maintenance room. Light a flare if it's too dark. Collect Uzi clips (9) from the first alcove on the right. Continue into the room and collect a small Medi Pack (10) from the corner. Turn right into the second alcove and push the button in the alcove to turn on the lights throughout this area of the subway.
Old Penny
Exit the maintenance room and run forward back to the other end of the train platform. Pick up the Old Penny (11). If Lara attempts to run down the train tracks in either direction, the green lights will turn red which indicates that a train is coming down the tracks. The red lights indicates it is vital to turn around and head back. If Lara insists on proceeding further down the tracks in either direction, she will be run down by a train. Instead, turn around and head back to the columns. Run forward past the second column and turn right. Run forward back to the brown platform above the other train platform.

Turn left and hop backwards until Lara hops off the platform. Safety drop to the train tracks below. Lara cannot go down the tracks behind her because of an oncoming train. Ahead another train is coming ahead, but notice the alcove further down the tunnel on the right. Have Lara stand on the left side of the tunnel and aim Lara toward that alcove. Sprint forward and head for the alcove to narrowly avoid getting killed by a train.

Draw powerful weapons such as the Desert Eagle and kill two gang members (5, 6) that are in the next room. Run forward to the end of the trench and vault out of the trench on the left. Run forward and turn left and collect a small Medi Pack (12) from behind the crates. Turn around, run forward, turn right and climb up the crates. Run forward to the wall and turn right and climb over the crate. Drop down into the alcove and collect a crystal (13). Turn around and climb back up onto the crate. Draw weapons and kill the mongrel (7). Turn left and take a running jump over the slope to the crates on the far side of the room.

Turn left and drop into the hole. Turn around and push the button to activate an alarm3. Climb back up onto the crate and walk forward. Take a running jump diagonally to the left to reach the top of that stack of crates. Turn around and aim Lara towards a ledge above and on the left. Take a running jump and grab to reach the ledge. Pull up and collect a pair of Uzi's (14). Turn around and walk to the edge. Look to the left to locate a wooden platform and take a tight diagonal running jump from the alcove to the platform. Turn left and take a standing jump to the ledge with the slope.

With Lara facing in this direction, draw the Desert Eagle, and take a side flip to the right. Pop the gang member (8) that's hiding in the corner and collect a small Medi Pack (15) off of him. Turn around and run back to the end of the crates. Turn right and take a standing jump and grab to grab onto the metal mesh on the ceiling above. Swing forward and turn right. Swing all the way to the end of the mesh and drop to the ledge below.

Turn left and run forward, sliding down to a lower ledge. Turn right and climb up into the next passage. Turn around and take a standing jump and grab to reach a higher alcove. Pull up and collect a rocket (16), then safety drop to the ledge below. Turn around and vault back up into the tunnel.

Turn around and face away from the slope. Step backwards to slide backwards down the slope. As Lara slides down, the giant drill overhead will begin to turn and move down the shaft. Grab the bottom of the slope and immediately release to drop down to the broken ledge below. When Lara hits the broken ledge immediately take a side flip to the left. Allow Lara to slide down the slope and take a jump before Lara slides off the ledge and grab onto a crevice on the opposite wall.
SECRET #1
Shimmy to the right and release from the crevice, and then drop down to a broken tile below. Lara will take significant damage when she hits the tile. Reverse roll before the tile breaks away and take a jump off of the slope below. Grab onto the opposite ledge. Release and grab a lower ledge, and repeat twice more to reach a ledge below. Pull up into SECRET #1 and collect a crystal (17) and MP5 clips (18). Turn left and step forward to slide down to the bottom of the slope. When Lara reaches the lowest tunnel, turn left.
Release and Lara will fall to a broken tile below. Lara will take a significant amount of damage when she lands on the tile. Reverse roll before the tile breaks away. Lara will fall further with the tile and hit a slope. Allow Lara to slide forward a little and take a jump across the pit to a side chamber. Walk forward and safety drop into the hole ahead. When Lara lands in the tunnels below turn right4.

Run forward and vault up onto the ledge. Turn left and run down the slope to the bottom and collect a large Medi Pack (19). Turn around and run back up the slope. Turn right and drop down to the previous ledge and run forward. Climb up onto the ledge on the left and turn around. Take a standing jump and grab up to the higher ledge. Pull up and run to the right and pull up to the next higher ledge.

Reverse roll and take a jump over the hole. Enter the alcove on the left to collect a crystal (20). Turn around and run back to the hole. Take a standing jump diagonally to the right to reach the ledge beside the small pool. Turn right and climb up the left side of the wire mesh. When Lara reaches the top of the mesh, pull up to the top of the column. Lara does not need to worry about the flames so long as she doesn't step forward. Take a side flip to the right. Wait until the flames recede and take a standing jump up to the ledge ahead and the flames will extinguish. Climb up to the next ledge and pick up the small Medi Pack (21) that is on the ledge.

Turn left and vault up to the sloped ledge. Turn left once more and walk forward to the other end of the sloped ledge. Side step to the right so that Lara will be standing on the highest part of the slope. Turn left one last time and angle Lara towards the wire mesh on the right. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the mesh. Climb part way up the wire mesh and take a back flip off the mesh to reach an alcove opposite the mesh. Turn around and push the button to open a trapdoor in the ceiling of the crate room and light a flame at the top of the wire mesh.

Turn around and walk to the edge. Take a standing jump and grab to return the wire mesh. Climb up to the top of the pillar and immediately crouch down. Crawl forward under the flames and collect Uzi clips (22). Turn around and back to the far edge of the pillar and have Lara lower herself off the other side of the pillar. Turn right and run forward to the end of the ledge. Vault up to the higher ledge and turn left. Run forward to the end of this next ledge and turn left. Climb to the higher ledge and turn right.

Run forward to a dark hallway and turn left. Draw pistols and kill a rat (9) that runs out of an alcove at the end of the hallway. Run to the end of the hallway and enter the alcove on the left. Pick up a large Medi Pack (23) and a box of shotgun shells (24). Reverse roll and exit the alcove. Turn right and run along the wire mesh and safety drop to the train platform below. Run forward and safety drop to the train tracks below.

Run forward down the tracks. This time a train won't barrel down the tracks, but if Lara does attempt to continue down the tracks, a train will arrive and kill her. Run down the tracks and enter the hallway on the right to return to the room full of crates. Run to the end of the trench and climb out of the trench on the right. Turn right and climb up onto the crate. Turn right and take a running jump across the sloped ledge to a pile of crates on the opposite side of the room.

Turn right and aim Lara at the wire mesh. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the mesh. Climb up the mesh and take a back flip to a ledge below. Step forward and take another back flip to a ledge above. Take a standing jump forward and grab the wire mesh on the ceiling. Swing forward and follow the mesh to the right. Release to return to a ledge beyond a safety rail. Turn left and slide down to a lower ledge. Turn right and climb up into the opening.
Solomon's Key #1
Now that the drill is lowered, Lara can walk forward onto the drill bit. Walk diagonally to the left to the opposite corner of the shaft. Climb up to the tunnel above and pick up a Solomon's Key (25). Step forward and turn right. Run forward into the tunnel and climb up to the higher tunnel. Run forward up the tunnel and safety drop down the end of the tunnel to the hallway below. Reverse roll and walk forward. Turn right and run forward along the wire mesh. Safety drop to the train platform below. Run forward and safety drop to the train tracks below.

Run forward down the tracks. This time a train won't barrel down the tracks, but if Lara does attempt to continue down the tracks, a train will arrive and kill her. Run down the tracks and enter the hallway on the right to return to the room full of crates. Run to the end of the trench and climb of the trench out on the right. Turn right and climb up onto the crate. Turn right and take a running across the sloped ledge to a pile of crates on the opposite side of the room.

Turn right and aim Lara at the wire mesh. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the mesh. Climb up the mesh and take a back flip to a ledge below. Turn around and take a standing jump slightly angled to the right to the low grey ledge. Turn right and climb up onto the crate. Turn right and climb up through the open trap door. Reverse roll and take a running jump to the alcove on the opposite side of the trapdoor. Pick up a box of shotgun shells (26) and turn around. Walk to the left corner and run to the window on the left. Lara will sort of skip to the window.

Draw pistols and kill a gang member (10) and his mongrel (11) from the safety of this window. The gang member can't climb up into this window for some reason. When both are dead, run forward and drop to the ground. Run forward and turn right to enter the room between the two ramps. Pick up the MP5 clips (27) in the left corner. Turn around and run to the opposite corner and step onto the broken tile. Allow Lara to drop through the floor and turn right. Run forward and pull the block once. The trapdoor that the block was holding up will fall open.

Climb up to the room above and run forward. Run forward and drop through the open trap door. Turn right and follow the tunnel as it winds to the left twice. Turn right and crawl forward through the crawlspace. When Lara can stand up, turn right and climb up to the tunnel above. Then tunnel behind Lara leads back to the room with the two ramps. Run forward and follow the tunnel as it bends to the right.

When the tunnel widens, Lara will find two buttons on the right wall. Ignore the tunnel opposite the buttons, because Lara will be coming back that way later. Facing the two buttons, the left button will open the the left door in the Chancery Lane Safe Deposit that is down the tunnel on the left. The button on the right will open the right and middle vault doors in the abandoned safe deposit vault. Push the right button first, and reverse roll. Run to the right and up the sloped tunnel. Turn right and run down the tunnel. When Lara reaches the end of the tunnel, take a hairpin turn to the left. Run back along the wall beside the pool, and turn right. Dash past the middle vault door and enter the right vault door. Dash or take running jumps to hurry Lara along.

Once inside the right vault, step up onto the ledge in middle of the room. Push the button on the right wall to open a door in the middle room. After pushing the button, turn left and slide down the slope to the tunnel below. Turn right and follow the tunnel by running up the slope, turning left and sliding to a lower tunnel. Continue following the tunnel as it bends to the left. Run forward and pick up a box of flares (28). Continue following the tunnel as it bends to the left again. Continue to the end and Lara will be back at the two buttons.

Push the right button again and once again hurry to the middle vault by reverse rolling, running to the right, turning right once more, and a hairpin turn to the left. Dash into the middle vault. Once Lara enters the middle room, climb onto the ledge in the middle of the room. Turn left and climb up into the trapdoor that Lara opened earlier. As soon as Lara pulls up into the tunnel above, the trapdoor will close. Push the button on the right wall to raise a metal grate further down the tunnel. Turn left and run down the tunnel. Lara will drop down to the closed metal grate, so vault out the other side, and continue down the tunnel and follow it as it bends to the left. Safety drop down to the ground at the end of the tunnel. Lara will take a little damage when she hits the ground.
Solomon's Key #2
Lara will land in front of the left button. Reverse roll, run forward to the button. Press the button, and hurry to the left door in the safe deposit by reverse rolling, running right, turning right, taking a hairpin turn left and a dash into the open doorway. When Lara is in the left vault, immediately turn left and climb up onto the ledge. Turn right and jump and grab the mesh above. Swing past the metal grate that Lara closed all the way across the pool. When Lara reaches the very end of the mesh, release and grab the ledge below. Pull up and walk to the left. Step forward and turn right and collect a box of shotgun shells (29), a crystal (30), and a second Solomon's Key (31).

Turn around and walk forward and to the left to return to the pool. Drop into the pool. The passage to the right leads down and to the left back to the two buttons and is meant in case Lara entered this room in the wrong order. Instead, take a flip turn and swim to the left into a small underwater tunnel. Turn left and swim forward through the underwater tunnel.
Ticket
Lara will surface in a tunnel, so swim forward and pull up into the tunnel. Draw weapons and step forward. The door ahead leads back to the ticketing area and will open automatically as Lara approaches it. Run through the doorway and kill the gang member (12) that's running around outside. Walk forward to the second ticket machine from the left. That's the only machine which is marked as one penny, while the others are all two pence machines. Stand on the right side of the machine, which is incorrectly marked as two pence5, and use the old penny. The machine will dispense a Ticket (32).

Step away from the machine and pick up the ticket. Turn right and run past the ticket machines. Turn left and run forward. Turn right to find another set of escalators. Run down the escalators and draw weapons. When Lara reaches the platform covered by dirt below, she will have to kill a gang member (13) that will attack from the left.
SECRET #2
Run forward to the far end of the train platform and draw pistols. Shoot out the metal grate and vault up onto the ledge. Drop into SECRET #2 and turn right. Step forward and pick up a box of shotgun shells (33). Turn right and side step to the right and jump up and grab to climb out of this pit.
Head past the concrete pillars to the train tracks where the last gang member emerged from. Draw pistols and kill two rats (14, 15) that are running around on the train tracks. After the rats are dead, drop down to the train tracks. The tracks to the left only leads to a train and imminent death, so that direction should be avoided. Lara needs to be aware that the lights in the tunnels will no longer turn red as a warning. Instead turn right and draw the Desert Eagle pistol.

Run forward down the tracks and a gang member (16) will emerge from the first of three doors on the right side of the tunnel. The door he emerged from will close after he comes out. He will attempt to make a quick run into the second doorway. Kill him before he enters the second doorway, otherwise Lara will have to dash in after him. If he manages to beat Lara into the doorway, green lights will light up and a train will roll down the tracks and kill Lara. If Lara manages to kill him before he enters the second doorway, the train will not come and she can then enter the second doorway at her leisure. Run into the tunnel and push the button on the left wall to open the first and third doors. Turn left and exit this doorway. Lara can turn left and enter the first doorway to collect a crystal (34). Turn right and head into the third door. Lara will fall into a tiny pool, so swim forward and surface. Pull up and walk forward to the closed door.

Push the button on the left wall to open the door with the inscription. Enter the open doorway and run all the way to the end of the hall. Turn left at the end of the hall and push the first button on the right wall next to the picture of the two hands. That will open all the doors that are inscribed with two hands. The button at the end of the hall operates the same doors as the other button in this hall. Turn around and run back down the hall toward the entrance to to this maze.

Enter the hallway to the left. Once inside, turn right and push the button at the end of the alcove which is marked with one inscription on the right wall and two inscriptions on the left wall. The switch will move lots of doors around, but reverse roll and exit the alcove, and turn left. Run forward, crossing the entrance hallway and enter the door across the hall. Turn left and run into the dark hallway, lighting a flare if necessary, and pick up a small Medi Pack (35). Reverse roll, exit this hallway, and turn right. Run back across the hall and turn right. Push the first button again to return the doors to their previous configuration.

Now reverse roll, exit the alcove, and turn right. Run across the hall once more to the room across the hall. This time notice the two buttons on the wall. Push the button on the left next to the inscription of a half moon. The doors with the matching inscription will will now open.

Reverse roll and run forward, past the first long hallway, to reach a second hallway. Turn left and run to the end of the hallway. Turn right and follow the tunnel as it bends to the left. At the next intersection, turn right and collect a small Medi Pack (36) from the alcove. Reverse roll and continue forward and at the next intersection, turn right. Continue forward and a torch will light in the next hall. Step forward and run down the dark alcove on the right to collect a pair of MP5 clips (37). Reverse roll and exit the short hall.

Turn right and follow the tunnel as it bends to the left, past the torch, and back to the right. Step forward to enter a Masonic Lodge. There are some broken tiles that cover spiked pits on the left side of the room. They're not a big deal, but a bit of a nuisance, so it's easier to just avoid that side of the room. So, turn right instead and run along the wall and turn left when Lara reaches the corner. Step forward and use one of the Solomon's keys in the first lock to lower one of the swords at the far end of the room. Turn right and walk forward and use the second Solomon's key in the second lock to lower the second sword at the far side of the room, open the door behind the swords as well as a door to the left.

Side step to the right and step forward into the space between the rotating half moon and the two thrones. Step forward and pick up Uzi clips (38) in the first corner on the left. If Lara didn't pick up the Uzi's earlier, she will find the Uzi's here instead of the clips. Turn right and step forward to collect a crystal (39). Reverse roll and head back to the far wall.
Masonic Mallet
After clearing the pillars, turn left and run to the far end of the room. Be careful of the broken tile along the way. Turn right and run up the ramp and enter the door beyond the swords. Run past the broken tile and collect the Masonic Mallet (40). Reverse roll and walk forward to the edge of the pit. Draw weapons and take a standing jump over the pit of spikes. Kill a mongrel (17) that will attack after Lara exits the doors.
Ornate Star
When the dog is dead, turn right and run forward over a broken tile in the corner and Lara will run through a purple curtain. Collect the Ornate Star (41), and an MP5 Clip (42). Reverse roll, and walk to the curtain. Take a standing jump over the pit and run forward across the room. Turn right and run forward, being careful not to fall into spiked pit. Run all the way to the other end of the room and enter a door in the corner.

Pick up a box of flares (43), and a small Medi Pack (44). Lara can exit the Masonic Lodge by backtracking through the maze or dropping into the pool6. The underwater tunnel is quite dark, so it may be necessary to light a flare to improve visibality. Follow the underwater tunnel forward, and to the left. The tunnel will wind around a bit, but eventually it will end in a small pool. Surface and pull up onto the lowest ledge, and then climb up to the next highest ledge.

If Lara is interested in all the kills, then climb up to the tunnel above7. Run down the stairs and draw weapons when Lara reaches the landing. Continue diagonally down the lower stairs and reverse roll to target and kill a mongrel (18). Run back up the stairs and drop down to the ledge.

Look across the room to locate a crevice on the opposite wall. Take a running jump and grab to reach the crevice. Pull up into the crevice and Lara will be crouching in the crevice. Turn right and crawl forward to the other end of the crevice. Turn left and back Lara to the edge of the crevice and have her lower herself out of the crevice to the ledge below. Reverse roll and run forward to climb up to the highest ledge in this room. Reverse roll again and take a step forward to the middle of the ledge. Take a standing jump and grab to reach the mesh on the ceiling of the room. Turn left and swing until Lara reaches the very end of the ledge. Release and immediately grab the edge of the crevice below.

Crawl forward until Lara can stand. Draw pistols and kill two rats (19, 20) that will emerge from the tunnel ahead. Run forward and use the ticket to open the turnstiles. Sidestep around the ticket machine and run forward up the steps. Draw weapons and quickly kill a gang member (21) that is standing to the left beyond the crates. Collect a small Medi Pack (45) from him after he's dead.
SECRET #3
Run to the left corner of the room around the rusty turnstiles. Turn back to the right and use the Ornate Star on the door to the ticket booth. Draw weapons and immediately take a couple of back flips away from the door and kill another gang member (22) that will emerge from the booth. With the threat eliminated, run forward into the booth, which is SECRET #3. Run to the end of the booth, and climb up into a tunnel above the booth. Turn right and run down the tunnel. Lara will have to crouch down and crawl forward to the end of the tunnel. When Lara reaches the end of the tunnel, have her turn around and lower herself to a ledge below. Turn right and drop to a tunnel below. A door will open. Turn right, step forward and collect a crystal (46). Turn left and run forward through the open doorway. Turn left and run forward to drop down to a ledge below.

Lara will find herself back in the room with the ledges and the pool. Take a running jump and grab to reach the crevice. Pull up into the crevice and crawl to the right. Have Lara lower herself out of the crevice to the ledge below. Reverse and climb up to the highest ledge. Reverse again and a standing jump and grab to reach the mesh on the ceiling of the room. Swing until Lara reaches the very end of the ledge. Release and immediately grab the edge of the crevice below. Crawl forward until Lara can stand. Run forward and around the ticket machine and run forward up the steps to return to the ticket booth.
Turn right and run forward, through the opening to the right of the pillar, down the escalator. At the bottom of the escalator, turn left and run to the doorway. Use the Masonic Hammer to open the door. Enter the doorway, and follow the short tunnel to the left. Push the button to open a trapdoor that leads into a subway train car elsewhere and then reverse roll.
SECRET #4
Step forward and jump up to grab the lower edge of a crevice. Pull up into SECRET #4, and collect a rocket (47). Crawl backwards, and have Lara lower herself out of the crawlspace to the ground.
Follow the tunnel to the right and exit the doorway and turn left. Drop into the trench ahead and turn right. Run forward down the tunnel until a doorway to the right opens. Draw weapons, turn right and kill the gang member (23) on the catwalk beyond the door. Pick up a small Medi Pack (48) from him after he's dead and a subway train will roll past on the tracks below. The catwalk leads back to the first train platform. For now, turn around and head back to the tunnel that Lara was just in.

Turn right and run forward to the pit. Take a standing jump over the pit. Draw weapons and run forward. Kill a mongrel (24) that will attack from the next tunnel. After it's dead, follow the tunnel as it turns to the left twice. Run down the steps to a train platform below. There is a gang member (25) that is minding a fire at the far end of the train platform. Collect a small Medi Pack (49) from the dead gang member, and enter the second alcove on the left and collect a crystal (50).

Turn around and drop down to the train tracks. Turn left and run forward to the end of this tunnel. Bats will fly out of the darkness. Run forward up the pile of dirt on the right side of the tunnel. When the tunnel gets too short to stand, turn around and crouch down. Have Lara lower herself down the hole and light a flare to help her see what's down there. Pick up a box of shotgun shells (51) and a large Medi Pack (52). Climb back out of the hole, crawl forward until Lara can stand.

Run back down the tracks and take a running jump or vault back up to the passenger platform. Run toward the subway train car, and take a running jump or climb up onto the train. Run to the far left corner and pick up a box of flares (53). Turn right and run forward to drop to the ground. Turn left and run back up the stairs, following it as it turns to the right twice to return to the tunnel above.

Run forward and drop down into the pit Lara avoided earlier. Turn right and drop to the dirt floor. Crawl forward until Lara can stand. Walk forward to the trapdoor and turn around. Jump and climb up through the trap door into a train car. The trapdoor will close behind her after Lara enters the train. Turn right and walk forward. Press the button, the door opposite the button will close and the train will rumble away.

When the train comes to a stop, the trapdoor to the left of the button will open. Drop into the opening and run forward. Crouch down and crawl forward into the crawlspace. When Lara can stand up, turn left and run forward. There will be three alcoves on the right side off the room. A gang member (26) will run out of the third alcove and immediately go to look for help. Let him go and he will run into a small tunnel that leads off to the right of the wide tunnel to find help. The gang member will open a door to the right near the end of the tunnel. The gang member will return and a second gang member (27) will be accompanying him. Deal with them quickly.
SECRET #5
Enter the newly opened doorway and pick up a rocket (54). Push the first button to open a door that Lara passed much earlier. Turn right and run further into the room and turn left to find a second button. When Lara presses it, a trapdoor will open in the ceiling nearby. Turn around and exit the room. Turn left and run back out of the tunnel, following the tunnel as it turns left. When Lara reaches the wide tunnel, turn left once more. Run down the wide tunnel, and turn right and run down the side tunnel.

Run up the mound of dirt, and climb up through the trapdoor to return to the train car. Turn left, run forward, and press the button again to take another ride in the train. Drop through the trapdoor to the left of the button. Run forward, and turn left twice. Lara will be back at the other tunnel. Run forward until the ceiling pinches down. Crawl past the stricture and climb up onto the flat ledge. Turn right and climb up to the tunnel above. Run forward until Lara reaches the doorway that leads to the first train platform, and turn left.

Run forward, across the catwalk, and turn right at the other end of the catwalk. Run down to the slope and turn left to return to the train platform. Run forward and safety drop to the train tracks. Run forward and enter the tunnel that leads to the right to the room full of crates. Run down the trench, and when Lara reaches the crate, turn right and climb out of the trench. Turn right and run forward and vault up onto the crate. Turn right and take a running jump across the slope to crates in the opposite corner. Turn right and take a standing jump an grab to reach the wire mesh. Climb up the wire mesh and back flip onto the ledge opposite the mesh. Turn around and take a standing jump diagonally to the right to reach the low flat ledge. Turn right and climb up onto the crate. Turn right again and pull up through the trapdoor to the room above.

Run forward and enter the door that Lara opened earlier to find SECRET #5. Step forward and pick up MP5 clips (55). Turn left and step forward and pick up Desert Eagle Clips (56). Now draw the Desert Eagle and expend a shell to take out a gang member (28) that's hiding in the alcove to the left. Now step forward and pick up a rocket (57) and a large Medi Pack (58) from the dead gang member. Reverse roll and run to the opposite end of the passage to find a button on the wall. Push the button to open the trapdoor that leads to the subway train car. Turn around and run out of the dark passage. Draw weapons again, and run across the room and another gang member (29) will jump out from the right. Take him out and exit this room through the opposite door8.

Run forward and turn right. Take a jump over the hole and run to the end of the hallway. When Lara reaches the two buttons, push the left button. Reverse roll and run to the right. Rush to the door that Lara just opened, by taking a running jump up the slope, turning right, running to the end of the tunnel, and a hairpin turn to the left. Dash forward into the open door. Dive into the water and swim into the small underwater tunnel. Turn left and swim forward through the underwater tunnel.

Surface, pull up out of the water and run forward down a tunnel. Run forward to the ticketing area. Turn right and run past the ticket machines and run forward past the pillar to the top of the right set of escalators that leads to the first train platform. Walk carefully when Lara reaches the end of the escalators. Take a running jump over the train tracks to the dirt floor on the opposite side. Turn right and run forward past the passages that lead to the train platform. Turn left and follow the passage to the right and back to the left until Lara is back at the catwalk.

Run forward across the catwalk and turn right when she runs through the doorway. Run forward and drop into the hole. Turn left and run forward to drop down to the lower ledge. Crouch and crawl forward. When the tunnel is tall enough to stand, run forward to the flat ledge. Turn around and climb up to the train car above. Turn left and push the button to take another trip down the train tracks. Drop down the trapdoor when the train stops. Crouch down and crawl forward into the crawlspace. When Lara can stand up, turn left and run forward down the wide tunnel.
Continue forward and enter the first alcove. Walk down to the slope and collect a small Medi Pack (59) and then drop into the hole at the end of the slope to exit Aldwych.



Lara falls down the shaft screaming and hits the floor below with a hard thud9.

She begins to rise, but a gang member walks over and grabs her by the arm. She yelps in pain as she's still trying to recover from long fall. He shoves her forward, forcing her to kneel before the leader of "the Damned".

A hooded and masked man is sitting what appears to be the back seat of half of an automobile, which poses as his throne, and is wielding some sort of trident. He looks her over and asks, "So, you must be after Miss Leigh then?"

Lara replies curtly, "Business, not pleasure."

The gang leader, sporting a Geordie10 accent, points out, "Though obviously not for revenge, mon. You hardly got the face for that."

Lara, perplexed by the statement, asks, "And you have?"

The leader hufs, "Hrumf!" He spits, "How moronic a question is that, eh?" He slams the trident on the concrete floor and continues, "I don even have a face, mon!" He slams his trident on the ground once again before continuing, "Came down heah looking for work, and what do I get, eh? Miss Leigh's cosmetic company and her lab assistant job." Bitterly, "No experience necessary. Good wage. Accomodation wid it. Aye, locked in a floation tank for days on end in some fetid syrup. And when we come out -cos lots of it was applied, like- no face, or flesh, mon! And a bootin' down the waste disposal chute heah. Presumed dead!"

Lara is trying to put the pieces together, and asks, "Some kind of failed experiment then?"

The leader is pleased that Lara is catching on, "Oh, Tah! Very much! But, aye, and for added insult, when I tried to take me own life, Ah found dat it jus didn't work."

Lara is shocked, "You mean Sophia's testing some kind of imortality power?" Spitefully under her breath she adds, "Along with her own brand of face-lift."

The leader is starting to get excited, "Oy aye, Mon! Everlasting beauty. She's obviously not fully worked it out yet. She takes the best results for herself. See, I don care what your business is wit her is. You can't be any more shiftless than she is. So I'm goin to go out o' me way ta help you. That is, after you done somethin' for us here like."

Lara is suspicious, "Very generous of you. What do you want?"

The leader voice becomes flippant, "A bottle of that mummy preservation stuff. From the natural history museum."

Lara inquires, "Embalming fluid?"

"Aye," the leader answers. He continues to explain, "For rottin' flesh, you canna whack it, mon11." He tries to add a little flair to his pitch to Lara, "The museum's pretty interesting, I'm told. You'll like it."

Lara has to wonder so she does it aloud, "So why don't you go yourself?"

The leader explains while walking away, "One of them Egyptian lassies12 there is a bit pissed off like that she didn't get imortality the way she wanted it. And seein' as we'd done better than her in that department, I didn't care to imagine what curse we could get given any worse than we got already like. You'll be fine though, pet. You die easy."

Lara answers sarcastically, "Thanks." (follow plot)

  1. Being that this is fairly early in the level, players of the PC version may want to leave this crystal to collect it later when Lara needs the health boost.

  2. Alternatively, Lara can reverse roll and vault out of the shaft back to the stairway. Run forward and to the right up the last flight of stairs. If Lara chooses to follow this path she will need to deal with the gang member that's running around the ticket machines first. Do this by drawing weapons, and turn left. Run down the tunnel, turn left, and shoot down a gang member (2) thats running around the ticket machines. Collect a small Medi Pack (8) from him. Facing the four ticket machines notice that there are holes in the ceiling over the two ticket machines on the left. Climb up onto the second machine from the left. Walk forward and climb up from the top of the machine through the hole to the rafters above.

  5. I believe the level designers made a minor goof here. All the machines are marked as two pence, except for this machine. I think players were meant to notice that one of the machines is set to accept a single penny, but the side of the machine that is marked "one penny" doesn't work, and the player must use the opposite side of the machine, which is marked "two pence". Either the markings for the machine was reversed or the side that is meant to be "active" was reversed. Either way, it doesn't make sense the way the machine is currently set up to operate.

  6. To proceed to the next section without using the underwater tunnel, exit the Masonic Lodge and follow the passage to the right, past the torch, and back to the left. Run past the first hallway that leads off to the left and turn left at the next intersection. Follow the tunnel, turning right twice. Run forward to the next hallway and turn left. Run forward out of the maze and drop into the small pool. Surface on the other side and pull up to return to the subway tunnel. Turn left and run back to the train platform. Turn left and vault up onto the platform. Run forward and turn left again. Enter the small tunnel that runs parallel to the train tunnel. Run up the steps and draw weapons. Follow the stairs to the right beyond the first landing. When Lara reaches the second landing, the stairs will widen and a mongrel (18) will attack. Kill the dog and run up the stairs and turn left. Run to the top of the steps and drop down to a lower ledge. Continue the main walkthrough from the paragraph that begins, "Look across the room to locate a crevice..."

  7. In order to get this kill Lara will have to do a tiny bit of backtracking. However, Lara can also pick up this kill earlier in the game when she first reaches the train platform, or she can pick it up again later after picking up either of the last two secrets. We put it here just because it's the shortest backtrack.

  8. If Lara didn't open this door during her last trip through, then she will have to drop into the trapdoor in the middle room, and continue forward and vault out of the tunnel.

  10. "Geordie" is a British colloquialism which refers specifically to natives of Tyneside, towns that cluster around the Tyne River. The accent or dialect and its variants can be found in the inhabitants from towns from Newcastle to Whitley Bay and from Gateshead to South Shields. Leonidas (A.K.A. snark^) tells us that the gang member presumably comes to London looking for work because of the high unemployment in the north due mainly to the closing down of the bug shipyards in those cities.

  11. Vicky Arnold, scriptwriter for TR3, explained to us what this expression means: "Aye..for rotting flesh you canno whack it man" is a Geordie expression meaning you can't beat it. Basically, because of Bob's unfortunate skin condition (which he has thanks to Sophia), he's found that the embalming fluid helps stop it all from falling off...

  12. We asked Rich Morton, head level designer for TR3, about who is this "Egyptian lass" that Lara was to encounter while going after the embalming fluid. Rich told us, "There actually is a real ghost story involving the British Museum. Many people claim to have seen a green apparition floating above one of the Egyptian caskets. We thought this would make a nice mini-boss but unfortunately didn't have time to implement it in the finished game." This explains the strange green mist that appears briefly above the Egyptian caskets that flanked the embalming fluid.
