Back in England, Lara steps into a small pub in the waterfront district of London. The pub is practically empty. English weather is already a tad grey during tourist season, but this time of year is downright gloomy. Beside the barkeep, there's only one other person in the pub. The man sitting alone in the corner nursing an Irish red is none other than Dr. Willard.

Willard looks up as Lara approaches, "Ah Lara! Would ye be ready to retrieve the next item on our shopping list?"

"Certainly," Lara answers. "Care to tell me where to look?"

"It'd be my pleasure," Willard answers. "As the only sailor that made it back alive to England, Stephen Barr sold his artifact to the Royal Society. In fact, until the turn of the century, the artifact was on display at the British Natural History Museum in the Egyptian gallery as the 'Eye of Isis', although Barr never told the museum where the artifact actually came from. Suddenly, it was withdrawn from the public gallery. That took place almost immediately after the museum received an extremely large contribution in 1907 from the Leigh Corporation."

"You mean, as in Leigh Cosmetics Corporation?" Lara asks.

"Yes," Willard answers. "Most analysts believe that the Leigh Corporation secretly and illegally purchased the artifact from the museum. In fact, the Leigh Corp paid enough to buy the whole bloody museum." Willard continues, "For the sum that the Leigh Corporation paid for the artifact, I don't think they'll be all too willing to part with it. Besides that, insiders say that Leigh Corp has been involved in some questionable and shady business practices. My concern is that they've found some way to exploit the powers of the artifact. I recommend that you surreptitiously make your way into their corporate headquarters in the City business district via the Roman tunnels underneath old London1."

"And you happen to know how I can get into the tunnels?" Lara asks.

"Actually, I do. Public works is digging up the old Aldwych Underground2 Station which is at the end of the Picadilly line. It's practically deserted since it was shut down in 1994. You can get into the station from the wharf."

"Anything else I should know?" Lara asks.

"Although it's not publically known, the Leigh Corporation has significant influence in the City. I hear that they keep their security well-armed," Willard tells her.

Lara is suprised. She counters, "No one but the police can carry around weapons in London, let alone open fire without the SAS or SO19 breathing down your neck within minutes3."

"It's likely that Leigh Corp has also bought itself a pocket full of the local police. Don't trust anyone. Shoot first and ask questions later," Willard replies.

Lara sighs, "You don't happen to be joking?"

"Sorry. Nothing ventured, nothing gained," Willard replies gaily and stands. "Anyways, I'm off to our research site in Antarctica. The company I work for, RX Tech, has got me busy down there with an excavation, and I also have a few experiments that I need to check on. I leave this afternoon. I'll contact you again once you've retrieved the artifact". He leaves the pub. Lara is starting to find his warped sense of humor quite annoying.(follow plot)



Begin by turning around and walking forward until Lara reaches the part of the edge where the catwalk joins it from the right. Turn left and walk forward until Lara reaches the slope. Take a hop backwards and then take two more steps backwards. Take a running jump over the slope, by keeping the forward key pressed down, and Lara will clear the slope and hit the wall beyond and take a little damage when she hits the ground. Turn left, run along the alley, and follow it as it turns back to the right. Run forward and pick up shotgun shells (1). Turn left and vault up onto the ledge and collect a crystal (2). Turn left and run back to the other corner. Turn right and climb onto the block in the corner. Turn right and climb onto the tin roof.
SECRET #1
Walk forward, over the crest of the roof and look down to see a crane. Do not walk all the way to the edge, but take a standing jump down to the crane from the middle of roof panel. Lara should land on the sloping panel of the crane and slide down to the cabin of the crane without taking any damage. Turn right and run forward down the crane arm to where the safety fence is missing. Safety drop off the right side to the steel girder below. Turn around and walk forward and take a standing jump to the ledge on the side of the building. Turn right and drop backwards off the ledge to safety drop to the ledge below. Turn left and safety drop down to the flat ledge below.

Turn around and walk to the center of the ledge. Take a standing jump down to the alcove on the roof below that is to the left of the barb wire. Turn right and walk carefully past the barb wire. Draw weapons and enter the tunnel. Run forward to the corner, and turn right to enter SECRET #1. Kill two rats (1, 2) and step into the small room. Pick up the rocket (3) and the small Medi Pack (4) and turn around and exit this small room. Run down the tunnel and follow it as it turns left. Stop when Lara exits the tunnel, and turn left. Walk forward through the barb wire and when Lara reaches the end of the roof, turn right and carefully climb up onto the ledge. Do not jump, but use the action key to avoid accidentally falling into barb wire.

Turn left and climb up to the higher ledge. Walk forward and climb up the yellow metal grating and shift right until Lara can release onto the higher ledge. Turn around and take a standing jump to the steel girder. Walk forward and climb onto the crane arm. Turn around and aim Lara slightly to the right. Take a running jump to the higher ledge and turn right. Walk forward to the end of this ledge and then take a standing jump to the ledge ahead. Turn left and pull up onto the sloped ledge and Lara will slide back into the alley. Turn right and climb onto the block in the corner. Turn right again and climb onto the roof.
Walk forward to the apex of the roof. Turn around and angle Lara to the right and take a hop back and then take a running jump 4 from the apex of the roof over the slope and slide back to the ledge above. Turn right and walk forward to the end of this ledge and look down. There should be a small metal grate below. Safety drop onto the grate to avoid accidentally missing it.

Turn around and run forward off the grate and Lara will land on a slope below. Lara will slide backwards, so grab the bottom of the slope. Pull up and immediately press jump to back flip to a small ledge across from the slope. Turn around and draw weapons and kill a crow (3). Walk forward and throw the switch on the left to raise the metal trapdoor on the opposite building.

Turn right and jump up and grab the mesh in the ceiling above and swing forward to the small ledge. Release and drop to the ledge and a mercenary (4) will emerge on the ledge on the opposite building. Turn right and walk forward to the edge of the the ledge and take a step backwards away from the edge and take a standing jump over to the opposite slope. Lara will slide backwards. Immediately grab as Lara slides backwards5. Pull up and press jump to back flip off the slope and Lara will land on the opposite ledge below. Lara will take a little damage when she lands on the ledge.

Draw weapons and take aim on the mercenary. Take side flips to the right and then back to the left to lock onto the mercenary. When the mercenary is dead, turn left and walk to the wire mesh on the far wall. Climb up to the top of the column, and turn left. Run forward into the alcove and climb up the wire mesh on the left. Pull up and take a running jump back to the starting ledge. Run forward and carefully drop to the metal grate. Drop forward off the grate to the slope below and back flip back to the small ledge. Turn around and walk forward. Jump up and grab the wire mesh and swing forward and release when Lara is over the ledge.

Turn right hand use the rope slide to cross the gap. When Lara drops off the end of the rope slide, she will drop to the slope. She will slide backwards off the slope, so grab the bottom edge of it. Release and immediately grab the crevice below it. Shimmy to the right and pull up when Lara reaches the platform.

Step forward and pick up a small Medi Pack (5) from the mercenary. Walk forward into the passage and turn left. Walk to the end of the ledge and turn right. Take a standing jump to the next ledge. Walk forward but do not step onto the broken tile. Aim Lara slightly to the right and use the broken ledge to take a running jump over the gap to the far ledge. Draw pistols and kill two rats (5, 6) that will emerge from tunnel on right6.
Flue Room Key
Turn right and enter the tunnel. Turn right again and run forward. Draw powerful weapons and follow the tunnel as it bends to the left twice. Lara will take aim on a mercenary (7) in the end of the narrow tunnel. When he's dead, collect the Flue Room Key (6). Turn around and follow the tunnel as it turns around to the right twice. Follow the tunnel as it turns left and step out onto the ledge.

Turn left again and walk to the end of the ledge. Turn around and hang from the edge of the ledge. Release the upper ledge and immediately grab the metal grating below. Pull up and run forward and push the button to lower a platform on the opposite side of the warehouse. Turn around and walk forward back to the end of this ledge. Safety drop to the lower ledge and turn around. Crawl forward and to the left and collect some harpoons (7). Back up and stand up.

Safety drop to the ground. Lara will take a little damage when she hits the ground. Run to the broken floor tile that's now on the ground. Pick up a small Medi Pack (8) from underneath it. Run along the wall to the corner and pick up a box of flares (9). Turn left and run to the opposite corner and climb over the concrete ledge. Drop into the corner and collect the crystal (10). Climb out onto the concrete ledge. Run diagonally across the room, dropping down off the ledge to the opposite corner. Press the button beside the wire mesh to open the trapdoor above.

Climb up the wire mesh. When Lara gets to the top of the mesh, shift to the right and release to return to the upper ledge. Turn right and run back to the tunnel opening. Turn right before entering the tunnel and then hang from the ledge. Release and grab the metal mesh below. Pull up and turn right. Angle Lara further to the right and take a standing jump and grab to reach the crevice7. Shimmy to the right and release when Lara reaches the end of the crevice.

Turn around and walk forward to the end of the ledge. Jump and climb up, through the open trapdoor, and return to the wooden ledge above. Turn left and walk back to the outside ledge. Turn right and run forward and throw the switch on the right to drop the platform that Lara raised earlier. Turn right and run to the open ledge. Drop to the ledge below and draw weapons. Turn around and step forward to kill a crow (8).

Turn back around and walk forward to the wall. Jump up and grab the crawlspace above the green door and shimmy to the right. When Lara reaches the next crawlspace, pull up into it and crawl forward and collect shotgun shells (11). Crawl backwards, have Lara lower herself over the edge of the crawlspace, and hang from the ledge.
SECRET #2
Shimmy to the right until Lara reaches the next crawlspace. Pull up into SECRET #2 and crawl forward to collect a box of shotgun shells (12). Crawl backwards and have Lara lower herself out of the crawlspace so that she's hanging from the ledge.
Shimmy back to the left until Lara returns to the first alcove. Release to drop back onto the ledge. Turn left and walk forward until Lara reaches the next alcove. Turn right, jump up and pull up into the alcove. Crawl forward and follow the crawlspace as it bends to the left. Soon the crawlspace will intersect with the tunnel that leads from the last alcove. Turn right and crawl forward up the sloped crawlspace until Lara exits onto a ledge and can stand up.

Angle Lara to the right and take a standing jump to the next ledge. Push the button to open a protective glass over a button elsewhere. Turn around and take a standing jump back to the previous ledge. Crawl back down the slope and when Lara reaches the intersecting tunnel, turn left and crawl forward and to the right to return to the opening. Turn around and have Lara lower herself down to the ledge below.

Turn left and walk all the way to the end of this ledge. Turn around and safety drop to a sloped ledge below. Draw weapons as Lara is sliding backwards and when Lara lands on the crate below a mercenary (9) will appear from behind some crates on the far end of this alley. Kill him and run forward to drop down off the crates to the ground.

Turn right and run to the adjacent pile of crates. There is an alcove to the right that is formed by the crates. Pick up some Uzi clips (13) from the alcove and then turn around. run forward along the wall and climb up onto the crates in the corner. Drop into the alcove in the corner, between the two crates, to collect a crystal (14) and pick up the box of flares (15). Turn around and climb out of the alcove.

Run forward and slightly to the right, back to the previous crates. Vault up onto the lower crates, climb up to the next higher stack of crates and turn left. Vault up onto the highest set of crates and turn left again. Take a standing jump and grab to grab onto the ledge above. Pull up and turn right and climb up the wire mesh. When Lara reaches the higher ledge, take a jump to back flip off the the mesh onto the upper ledge.

Turn right and run forward to the wire mesh on the column. Climb up the wire mesh, and pull up onto the column. Turn left and run into the alcove and then climb the wire mesh on the left. Pull up on this next column and walk all the way to the edge of the column. Take a standing jump and Lara will land on a small metal grate just below the starting ledge. Turn left and take a running jump across the alley to the ledge with the handrail on the opposite building.

Walk forward onto the sloped roof, and turn right. Walk forward to the edge of the roof and turn around and carefully drop to the small flat ledge below. Pick up the small Medi Pack (16) and turn right. Jump and grab the crevice and shimmy to the right until Lara reaches the far ledge. Pull up to the next ledge when Lara clears the crevice. run forward and vault up the step. Turn left and vault up to the next ledge. Run forward to the end of this next passage, and turn right. Vault into the hallway on the right. Run forward and step up as the passage zigs to the right.

When Lara reaches the end of the next hallway and steps out onto the ledge, take a standing jump across the next alley to the next ledge. Run forward and turn left. Run forward and climb up to a higher ledge. Reverse roll and draw weapons to kill a crow (10) that will attack. When the crow is dead turn around again and run forward to drop into the depression. Pick up the large Medi Pack (17) and press the button on the right wall to raise a platform in the previous alley.

Turn right and climb out of this depression. Run forward and to the right and drop down to the lower part of the roof. Run forward and turn right. Take a running jump across the alley to the higher ledge. Turn right and aim Lara towards the platform that has been raised. Take a standing jump down to the platform, and Lara will alert an enemy in the hallway behind her. Walk forward, draw pistols and take out a crow (11) that will attack. Turn left and take a standing jump to the small alcove and collect a box of flares (18). Use the flue key in the lock on the left to open the door.

Step into the open door and drop to the floor below. Run forward down the hall and collect a crystal (19). When Lara reaches the end of the hall, turn left and run to the end of the alcove. Press the button to extinguish a flame in a shaft elsewhere and light flames in the hallway that Lara just traversed. Turn around and walk forward and to the right. Stop before Lara heads back down the hallway. Wait for the flames that bellow in from the left to recede, and run forward, stopping when Lara reaches the next narrow part of the hallway. Once again, wait for the flames on the right to recede and run forward.

Pull up out of this hallway and take a standing jump back up to the platform. Turn left and walk to the end of the platform. Safety drop off the platform to the ledge below. Turn around and take a standing jump diagonally to the left to reach the ledge. Turn left and hop backwards to drop to the lower ledge. Turn right and crawl back down the slope. When Lara reaches the intersecting tunnel, turn left and crawl forward and to the right to return to the opening. Turn around and have Lara lower herself down to the ledge below.

Turn left and walk all the way to the end of this ledge. Turn around and safety drop to a sloped ledge below. Allow Lara to slide backwards to the crates below and turn right. Take a running jump across the gap between the crates. Climb up onto the upper crates and turn left. Walk forward to the end of the ledge and take a standing jump and grab to grab onto the ledge above. Pull up and turn right and climb up the wire mesh. When Lara reaches the higher ledge, take a jump to back flip off the the mesh onto the upper ledge.

Turn right and run forward to the wire mesh on the column. Climb up the wire mesh, and pull up onto the column. Turn left and run into the alcove and then climb the wire mesh on the left. Pull up on this next column and walk all the way to the edge of the column. Take a standing jump and Lara will land on a small metal grate just below the starting ledge. Turn left and take a running jump across the alley to the ledge with the handrail on the opposite building.

Walk forward onto the sloped roof, and turn right. Walk forward to the edge of the roof and turn around and carefully drop to the small flat ledge below. Turn right, jump and grab the crevice and shimmy to the right until Lara reaches the far ledge. Pull up to the next ledge when Lara clears the crevice. run forward and vault up the step. Turn left and vault up to the next ledge. Run forward to the end of this next passage. Turn right and draw weapons and kill the mercenary (12) that Lara alerted earlier.

Turn back to the left and climb up onto the higher ledge. Turn right, run forward, and turn right again, stopping before Lara falls down the shaft. Take a standing jump over the shaft and grab the ledge above and beyond it. Pull up and collect shotgun shells (20).
SECRET #3
Turn left and slide forward. Lara will drop to a ledge below, which is SECRET #3. Pick up the rocket (21) and turn around. Climb back up the wire mesh and step forward. Take a standing jump over the slope up to the higher slope.
Turn and take a standing jump back down to the hallway below. Turn around and walk forward. Hang from the edge of the hallway into the shaft and shimmy to the left. Safety drop down into the shaft and turn right. Run forward and slide down the long hallway until Lara emerges on a small ledge. Take a standing jump and grab to change Lara's trajectory. Lara should end up in the next small hallway. Step forward and slide down the next ledge, collecting a crystal (22).

Turn left and run forward and collect a large Medi Pack (23). Run forward and draw weapons and slide down to the bottom of the hallway. Kill two rats (13, 14) at the bottom of the tunnel. Drop backwards down through the hole and draw weapons. Kill a guard (15) Down the hall on the left are two reservoirs. There is a third reservoir that can be accessed from the distant reservoir and both the second and third reservoirs are currently empty and the first reservoir is half empty. Flip the switch on the left wall to fill the second reservoir and also to raise the water level in the first reservoir.

Turn around, jump onto the raise platform, and run forward, down the hall. Run past the first tunnel on the right that leads to the first reservoir. Run to the end of the hallway and turn right. Follow the tunnel as it turns right again, and then back to the left to the second reservoir. Dive into the water and swim to the bottom. Collect a small Medi Pack (24) and a Uzi clips (25). Swim forward and pull the underwater lever to open a trapdoor in the bottom of the first reservoir. Flip turn and surface back at the tunnel.

Pull out of the water into the tunnel and follow it as it winds right and back left. Run forward, back into the main hallway and turn left. Run all the way down the long hallway, and jump up onto the ledge and drop down the other side. Throw the switch to lower the water level in the first reservoir and empty the second. The other function of the switch is to slow the giant propellers beyond the trapdoor in the first reservoir. Turn around, jump up onto the platform and run forward down the hall. Turn right when Lara reaches the first hallway on the right and follow the tunnel as it turns right and back left.

Run forward, drop down onto the lower ledge, and drop once more to the next lower ledge. Finally drop into the water and swim down and to the right. Swim down into the trapdoor and flip turn. Swim forward past the propellers. The best way to get past the propellers is to swim to the right and then forward and back to the left. As the blade turns, Lara will slip past the propeller blades. Repeat to get past the second propeller. Swim upwards and surface near the left side of the pool. Pull up, turn right, and draw weapons. Kill another guard (16) and run forward to the end of the hallway. Pick up a box of shotgun shells (26).

Reverse roll and draw weapons. Two rats (17, 18) will emerge from a crawlspace on the left. Shoot them and run forward, halfway down the hallway. Turn left and crouch down. Crawl forward into the crawlspace, and stand when the tunnel becomes taller. Step forward and pick up a small Medi Pack (27). Run to the end of the tunnel and safety drop down to the lower tunnel. Run forward and stop before reaching the next chamber.

Watch for the tunnel cleaning machine. When it moves away, run forward and turn left. Pull the wire crate out once, and quickly climb on top of it. Drop down the other side and push the crate forward once. Lara needs to push the crate closer toward the electrical panel in the middle of the chamber to force the cleaning machine to crash into the panel and short it out. Stand close to the column in the center of the near end of the room to avoid being killed by the machine.

Wait until the the cleaning machine moves away and get to one side of the crate and push it twice to the side. Continue to cautiously wait out the machine and push the crate along the next part of the passage. Push the crate along the length of the passage until the cleaning machine is blocked and crashes into the panel. When the panel shorts out, a trap door will open and the protective guard over one of the buttons will open.

Run down to the other end of this chamber and step down into a lower alcove to collect a crystal (28). Lara can push the button on the right to turn the lights on in this room, but the button appears to do nothing else. Exit the alcove and run back down the chamber to the tunnel on the left. Enter the tunnel and run to the end. Climb up the wire mesh and pull up to the platform above. Lara will be back in the control room.

Throw the switch to fill the second reservoir, and then push the newly uncovered button to fill the third reservoir. Immediately reverse roll and draw weapons to kill another guard (19) that will run down the hall on the left. When the guard is down, run down the hall to the end of the long hallway and enter the tunnel on the right. Follow the tunnel as it winds to the right and back to the left. Dive into the reservoir and swim to the left.

Surface on the left side of the room and pull up into the tunnel. Follow the tunnel as it winds to the right and back to the left. Step out onto the ledge, turn right run out to the lower ledge on the left and dive into the water. Alarms will sound when Lara hits the water. Flip turn and swim back to the previous ledge. Pull up onto the ledge and draw weapons. Look across the reservoir and kill a guard (20) that has emerged from a doorway to investigate the alarms. When the guard is dead, dive back into the water and swim across the reservoir.

Pull up onto the ledge and enter the doorway that the guard emerged from. Run around the divider in the room and push the button on the far wall in the room which will open a trapdoor in the bottom of the third reservoir, draining it, and it will also raise the protective guard over the second button in the control room. Exit the room and turn left. Step down to the lower ledge, and then vault up onto the higher ledge. Run forward, about halfway down the ledge and turn right. Jump up and grab the wire mesh on the ceiling.

Swing forward, to the left, and then to the right. Continue to swing to the end of the wire mesh and release when Lara arrives at a ledge. Draw pistols and kill two rats (21, 22) that are in the hallway. Crawl into the alcove on the left to collect a small Medi Pack (29). Crawl backwards out of the alcove and turn around. Run down the hall and collect a crystal (30). Continue to the end of the hallway and turn right. Step forward and metal doors will close, cutting off the passage behind Lara. Step forward and collect a large Medi Pack (31). Drop into the hole at the end of the tunnel to return to the second reservoir.

Swim forward, across the reservoir, and climb out into the tunnel that returns to the control room. Pull up into the tunnel and draw weapons. Follow the tunnel as it winds to the right and back to the left. Kill a guard (23) that will be charging down the wide hallway. Run down the long hallway and return to the control room. Vault onto the ledge and push the button on the left side of the room underneath the alarm lights to flood the third reservoir again and to close the door to the room beyond the third reservoir.

Turn left and run back down to the end of the long hallway. Follow the tunnel on the right, winding right and back to the left to return to the second reservoir. Dive into the water and swim to the left and pull up into the tunnel that leads to the third reservoir. Follow the tunnel to the left, and back to the right. Step out onto the ledge and follow it to the left and back to the right until Lara can dive into the water.

Swim down into the open trapdoor at the bottom of the third reservoir. Swim forward to the first corner and pick up a bundle of harpoons (32), and turn left. Swim forward up the small underwater tunnel until she enters a flooded hall. Surface for air, and then dive back underwater. Swim across the hall to the other side. Turn right and collect a box of shotgun shells (33) on the floor. Flip turn and swim to the opposite end of the hall and pick up a small Medi Pack (34).

Flip turn again, and swim forward until Lara can turn right and return to the main hall. Turn right and swim to the small opening on the side. Pull up out of the water and draw powerful weapons. Kill a mercenary (24) that will emerge from a hall on the left and take the small Medi Pack (35) that he was carrying. Enter the side hall to collect the crystal (36). Turn around and exit the side hall and turn left and walk to the end of the hall.

Take a standing jump and grab to clear the barb wire in the pit and reach the wire mesh. Climb up the mesh and pull up onto the ledge above. Walk carefully through the barb wire and to the left. Turn right and take a standing jump and grab to reach the small metal ledge that extends from the crane. Lara will take a tiny bit of damage when she leaps off the ledge. Pull up onto the ledge and turn right. Take a running jump and grab to reach the roof of the next building.

Pull up and turn right and walk carefully through the barb wire. Turn left and take a standing jump up the slope to the next ledge. Lara will take a little damage from the barb wire once again. Run to the left and run forward. Turn right and take a standing jump up the higher part of the roof. Run forward and take another jump up onto the crest of the roof. Run forward and slide down the other side. Run forward but stop before dropping into the barb wire. Walk to the right side of the roof and turn around and drop into the little patch that doesn't have barb wire. Turn right and walk to the far end of the recess and pick up Desert Eagle clips (37). Turn around and walk all the way back to the other end of the ledge to the small patch without barb wire, turn right, and vault out onto the shingled roof.

Run forward and take a jump over the sloped part of the roof. Run up to the crest of the roof, and turn right. Run forward and take a standing jump up to the upper ledge. Back flip back to the roof and draw weapons. Kill two mercenaries (25, 26) that will come around the corner of the structure or out of the center of the structure. Run forward and vault up to the ledge when the mercenaries are dead.

Run forward into the structure and when Lara reaches the column in the center of the structure, pull the movable block twice. Climb up onto the block and turn right. Climb up to the higher ledge and run diagonally forward and to the right. Drop into the alcove and collect a large Medi Pack (38). Turn around and vault up out of the alcove.
SECRET #4
Cathedral Key
Take a running jump from this sloped ledge over the hallway below. Keep the forward key depressed and Lara will drop into the opposite alcove. Pick up the Cathedral Key8 (39), which is SECRET #4. Turn around and take a jump out of the alcove, and keep the jump key depressed to bounce off the ledge to return to the other ledge.
Safety drop down from the sloped ledge and turn left. Climb up over the block and drop down the other side. Run forward to the center of the structure and turn left. Exit the structure by running forward and turn right. Run forward to the corner.
SECRET #5
Turn around and climb down the wire mesh to the ledge below. Hop backwards to land on a ledge below. Turn left and drop backwards to the ledge below. Turn right and crawl into SECRET #5 and pick up a large Medi Pack (40). Crawl backwards out of the crawlspace and turn left. Climb up to the higher ledge, turn right and climb to the higher ledge. Run forward and climb the mesh up to the corner, and turn left.
Continue around the corner, following the guard rails. Turn left when Lara reaches the break in the guard rail. Run forward to drop down to the roof of the next building.



When Lara lands on the roof, a mercenary will pepper the roof from in front of a bell tower. Lara dodges the bullets and returns fire. The mercenary retreats into the bell tower. Lara flips onto the sloped roof and slides down to the bell tower. The bell in the bell tower begins to ring and the mercenary is distracted. Lara takes advantage of the distraction and suddenly slides out in front of the mercenary's location and fires her pistols, hitting the mercenary in the arm. He yelps in pain9.

He drops his weapon and the two square off. Lara gestures for him to step forward with her pistol. He eyes his fallen gun as the bell begins to ring. The mercenary reaches down to reclaim his weapon and Lara plants a kick in the mercenary's gut. He grabs her leg as he teeters backwards as he tries to subdue her. Lara pistol whips the brute on the back of his head, but he remains standing. He attempts to regain control of the situation by flipping Lara onto her leg by twisting her leg. He drops her to the ground and then jumps on top of her. Lara calmly raises her pistol under his chin.

Lara asks the man, "Who're you working for?" The bell gongs.

"What?" the man asks back.

Lara isn't interested in getting into any cat and mouse games with the man and tells him, "You heard me."

"Wha?" The thug is confused, "Honest! I didn't!" He pleads as the bell continues to ring. He asks again "What did you say?"

Lara speaks more clearly and this time she wraps her arms around the man's head putting him in a choke hold to make sure he knows she means business. "I said, 'Who employs you?'"

He screams in pain but finally coughs up an answer, "Miss Sophia Leigh."

Lara flips him off of her, and asks, "Who's she? What does she do?" She leans against a wall and aims her pistols at him.

He answers, "I dunno know." Lara looks skeptical and stares at him. He continues, "Really! I don't! I just shoot people for her."

Lara is amused by his frankness, "A commendable work ethic, I guess."

He shrugs, "Yeah, I put me hours into it. As me father did and his father did before."

Lara is in disbelief and asks, "Just how old is this Miss Leigh?"

He shrugs again, 'I dunno. Late twenties. Early thirties"

Lara is convinced that he's pulling her leg and says, "Right."

"Yeah." He quickly reaches down and recovers his gun. Smugly, he raises his gun and continues, "For some people, like yourself, we get a special bonus."

"I'm flattered," Lara calmly tells the mercenary.

He starts to back away from her, and continues to tell Lara, "I mean, I could even be retired from you." He continues to step backwards with pride.

Lara is watching where he's headed and tells him, "Then you might like to mind..." She pauses as the mercenary steps too far back before finishing her sentence. "...the bell. The bell swings forward and plows into the would-be assassin. He is launched into the air screaming.

Lara watches him sail out of the bell tower and flung out onto the roof outside. She tells him, "Happy retirement." She waits for the bell to swing clear and then she slides down into the bell tower. (follow plot)

Footnotes:
  1. The "City" is sometimes referred to as the Square Mile, the City is where London began over two thousand years ago. Unfortunately, most of it was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666, so there is not much to see from those times. As London has grown, this small area has ceased to be the centre of London, but still maintains its position as the financial centre of Britain. According to Susie Hamilton, Lud's Gate actually exists, although it has not been excavated. The gate is part of the old Roman walls and is located around the Embankment area of the City. The labyrinth of tunnels beneath the City is a result of the gradual rebuilding on top of previous ruins.

  2. The "Underground" is London's subway system.

  3. "snark^" tells us, "SO19 [Special Operations 19] was the UK Police's answer to the rising terrorism incidents (mainly from the IRA and the increase in armed crimes). I think they were formed just after the Iranian Embassy siege which the SAS [Special Air Service, Britain's elite special operations force based in Hereford] stopped so spectacularly - obviously the police took one look at the black uniforms and gas masks and said, 'That'll be cool. We need something like that.' and promptly set up their own specialised armed unit. They have a [reputation] for being extremely rough on people they catch wandering around with guns. Kind of like the US's overly gung-ho SWAT teams, only they're made well aware that if they mess up just once the job goes back to the boys from Hereford."

  4. If you have difficulty getting Lara to jump far enough to slide to the starting ledge, you can try to turn around and back flip diagonally to the roof and slide backwards, grabbing the lower edge. Lara can then shimmy to the right until she can release onto the metal grating below.

  5. If you're not afraid of having to deal with the mercenary at point blank, Lara can simply release and grab the ledge below, shimmy to the right, and pull up. Draw powerful weapons and blaze away. If you choose this path, you can skip to the paragraph that begins, "Step forward and pick up a small Medi Pack (5) from..."

  6. The two rats (5, 6) can be taken out before taking the running jump if Lara waits patiently. If Lara accidentally steps onto the broken tile before she's ready to take the jump she can hop backwards off of the tile, and then take a running jump and grab to reach the ledge.

  7. If you have trouble grabbing the crevice because of the ledge above, instead of turning right, just turn around and take a running jump to the next ledge. I didn't have any trouble grabbing the ledge, whereas I thought Lara took a little damage when she landed on the far ledge. You decide which is right for you.

  8. Don't worry about using the Cathedral key on this level. The point of this item is to gain access to the secret bonus level.
