Temple of Puna
Items: 13
Kills: 133
Draw weapons and walk forward. Take out two tribesmen (1, 2) armed with blow guns on the right. Take a jump up the slope and run forward with weapons still drawn. Kill another tribesman (3) in the tunnel above. Climb up onto the ledge and vault up into the the tunnel. Vault up to the next steps and draw weapons. Run forward and take a jump up the steps, twisting in midair or reverse rolling when Lara hits the ground. Open fire and kill the tribesman (4) that will charge down the steps.

Run to the top of the steps and turn right. Crawl into the crawlspace and stand up in the tunnel beyond. Stand and vault up to the next ledge. Run forward and collect the small Medi Pack (1), then examine the deadly room on the left4.

Blades roll back and forth the entire length of the next room. The four corners are somewhat safe from the blades, but Lara can also crouch down to duck underneath the axle between blades if she is against a wall. Lara must push all four buttons to open the double gates on the opposite of the room in order to exit this room. When the blades roll past to the right, step forward and slide down the slope to the ground. Run forward and collect the crystal (2), and run to the left side of the room taking a running jump or two to hurry Lara along. Run to the far carving with a switch in the center, and stand such that Lara is straddling the edge of the carving. Crouch down and the blades will roll up to the wall and harmlessly roll away. An advantage to this method is that Lara doesn't have to be perfectly aligned with this line between the two blocks.

When the blades roll away, sidestep to the switch and press it. Do two or three side flips in the direction of the other switch on the same side of the room. This should land her in a safe position. Crouch down and wait for the blades to arrive and roll away again. Sidestep to switch and press. Sidestep back to the edge of the wall carving and crouch down once more. This positions Lara for the jump over the axle. When the blades roll away again, stand, reverse roll and wait a moment. When the blades begin to roll toward Lara, run forward and take a running jump over the axle of the blades when they are in the lowest section of the room. Run straight ahead to the edge of the wall carving and crouch down.

When the blades roll away, sidestep to switch and press it. Take two side flips towards the remaining switch. Crouch down to wait for the blades to arrive and roll away. Sidestep to switch, press it and sidestep back. Crouch down, and when the blades retreat, sprint to the open gates to exit this room. Vault up onto the next ledge, and run forward to slide down. A spiked ceiling will begin to roll down. Immediately turn left and run to the left wall, where there is a block. Pull out the block to stop the ceiling from lowering any further. Now pull the three levers in this room to open the next gate to exit this room. Be careful not to jump around as Lara will take damage from the ceiling.

Exit this room and turn right. Walk forward and turn around at the hole. Safety drop down the long shaft to the hallway below. Turn around and step forward out of the alcove. Slide down to the floor of the hallway and pick up a small Medi Pack (3). Turn left and run forward to the lever. Pull the lever to open the gate at the far end of this tunnel. Reverse roll and sprint forward to exit this hallway as the enormous boulder rolls down towards Lara. When Lara reaches the next hallway, stop sprinting, but continue to run, turning right. Take a short sprint out of the hallway as the second boulder rolls down at Lara. Lara can try to collect the crystal (4) on her way out, or she can turn around and crawl under the boulder after it has come to rest.

Draw weapons as Lara steps back into the earlier hallway. A tribesman (5) will attack from the right, and two tribesmen (6, 7) will attack from the left. Kill them all, and then collect a small Medi Pack (5) from one of the dead tribesman on the left.
SECRET #1
Run back up the steps on the left and climb up onto the ledge at the end. Vault back into the tunnel and climb up onto the steps. Run up the steps, and Lara will find that a secret door above her head at the first landing is now open. To reach it, run to the first landing, turn left, and run three or four steps up the second part of the stairs. Turn left and take a standing jump and grab to reach a crevice that Lara can't even see. shimmy to the left until Lara can pull up into the doorway. Run forward in to SECRET #1 and a torch will light. Starting from the near right corner collect a large Medi Pack (6), Desert Eagle clips (7), a box of flares (8), and two more sets of Desert Eagle clips (9, 10) as Lara makes her way around the room counterclockwise. When she's collected everything, run back down the hall and safety drop back to the stairs. Turn right and run down the stairs, dropping to the lower hallway. Run forward until Lara is back at the junction of the hallways.
Puna
Cross the hall to the newly opened grate. Draw weapons and slide down the long ramp to the room below. The room below consists of a platform which is situated over a deep pit and supported at four points. At the far end of the platform is a throne. Have Lara run up the steps to the throne, and when the throne starts to turn around, Take a back flip away. On the throne will be Puna (8), a strange creature that is protected by some sort of field. Puna will fire either blue lightning bolts which will result in instant death for Lara, or he will firing green lightning bolts to one of the walls which will create a lizard man. To kill Puna, keep side flipping left and right. When he summons a lizard man, then he will stop firing lightning bolts, so Lara can turn her attention on the lizard men. lizard men will continue to appear as Lara battles Puna, but in the time it takes to kill Puna using pistols only, approximately five lizard men5 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) will have been summoned by the time Lara kills Puna3. Under sufficient fire, Puna will explode, taking the throne along with it.
Ora Dagger
After killing Puna and his minions, collect a small Medi Pack (11, 12) from each of the two supports on the side of the room, and then collect the Ora Dagger6 (13) from the steps in front of what used to be the throne.

When Lara emerges from the temple, it is dark, and she makes her way north. She pushes through the dense vegetation and suddenly finds herself on a beach. She glances up and down the coast and spots a campfire further up the beach. She heads towards the fire.

Lara reaches the camp site and finds the remaining Australian soldiers have heeded her instructions and have made their way to the north shore. One of the soldiers stands up as Lara approaches and says, "G'day love. Been wonderin' when you'd show up. You never gave us a chance ta thank you for retrievin' Bishop an' Tuckerman's keys, ay."

"Glad to help," Lara replies.

"The commander didn't make it though. He'd carked it before we got back to 'im in the treehouse," the soldier tells her solemnly.

"So what's the plan?" Lara asks.

"We've already radioed our position. Just waitin' for the Adelaide to pick us up," the soldier tells her. He smiles slyly at her and asks, "Will ya be needin' a ride out?"

"Only if it's no bother," Lara replies.

"Well, fine, it'll be a few hours. You're welcome to join us for the barbie. We bagged us one o' them big lizards. Would wash down better if we had a little tinny, but they tastes like chook."

"You're not serious?" Lara asks.

"Fair dinkum," the soldier replies. Lara shakes her head politely and sits beside the fire. Within hours, S70B Seahawk helicopter from the HMAS Adelaide arrives to extricate the soldiers from the island. Lara catches a ride on the frigate to Brisbane, Australia. (follow plot)

Footnotes:
  1. At this point in the game you can choose whether to go to the Nevada or London next if you haven't already completed those levels. The Traveler's Guide has chosen to go to the London levels next in numerical order. However, depending on the order you chose to play the game you can choose one of the other areas next. For this reason, we have included the links to those levels of the game as well.

  2. We realize that it is possible that you may have already completed both the Nevada and London levels at this point, therefore we include the Antarctica links here as well. Use these links only if you have completed Nevada, South Pacific, and the London levels.

  3. The total number of kills will vary depending on how long it takes Lara to kill off Puna at the end of this level, because the longer it takes for Lara to kill Puna, the more lizard men will be summoned. We did not, as of yet, wait around long enough to see how many kills we could rack up in this level, but the total kills can range from as few as none if you blow away Puna with the Desert Eagle pistol, to as many as 12 or 13 if Lara fights Puna using pistols. It actually becomes hard to get more kills than that unless you're really careful about not shooting at Puna at all. Richard Morton, head level designer for Tomb Raider III, confirms that the lizard men do "regenerate to infinity".

  4. Don't worry if the lizards poison Lara, just let her health trickle away. If she hasn't killed Puna by the time half of her health is gone, then use a small Medi Pack, otherwise, just finish Puna off, collect the items, and finish the level. Lara's health will be automatically restored to full and she will no longer be poisoned when she starts the next level.

  5. An alternative method for dealing with the rolling blades room is as follows:

Slide into the room and run into any corner and stand such that Lara as far into the corner as possible and is either facing diagonally into the corner or has her back against the corner. Position Lara so that her nose in the corner, because as the blades roll away, take a back flip out of the corner, quickly press the nearest button, take a side flip back into the corner, and then position Lara such that she will not take any damage.

Now when the blades roll away, turn Lara such that her back is against the corner. When the blades next roll away, take a standing jump forward, and run to the adjacent corner to safety. When the blades next roll away, back flip again and press the button and then side flip to the corner and wait for an opportunity to turn around. When the blades next roll away, run forward, collect the crystal (2), and take a running jump between two blades over the narrow axle of the blades and head for another corner for safety.

Repeat the process above of hiding in the corner, then back flipping to reach a button, and ducking back into a corner to push the last two buttons. When Lara has pressed the fourth button, the gate will open. When the next opportunity arises, sprint to the safety of the open gateway.

  6. PC players may find that the lizard-shaped artifact picked up here is named "Element 115" instead of the "Ora Dagger". However Sony PlayStation players will find that it is named correctly as the "Ora Dagger". Richard Morton, head map designer for Tomb Raider 3, tells us Element 115 should appear in Nevada, meaning that the Ora Dagger was meant to be picked up in the South Pacific.
