Area 51
Items: 40
Kills: 39
A phone call is placed from within the high security compound2. The man in the wrinkled grey suit picks up the phone and answers, "Yes?"

The voice on other end of the line speaks, "The unidentified woman's escaped and released most of the prisoners. She's armed and has taken out a few of our men. We're attempting to contain the situation. We believe she's en route to 'the ranch'."

The man takes a puff of his cigarette and says, "No matter. Alert our men at 'the ranch'. Make sure you dispose of the bodies. I don't want any questions. Did you question her?"

There is a hesitation, "No."

"Then we cannot take any chances. She must be silenced." He drops the receiver into the cradle and puffs on his cigarette. (follow plot)

Draw weapons, step around the small crate and run forward. A military policeman (1) will appear from the hallway on the left. Kill him quickly before he can activate the alarms. After he's dead, climb over the crates directly to the left of the truck. Drop into the space behind the crates and collect a small Medi Pack (1). Climb back out of the space and head forward to the next hallway.
MP5 Submachine Gun
Turn left and run down the hall. At the far end of the tunnel, Lara will see a red sign that indicates a weapons locker. Turn left and enter the room. Collect MP5 clips (2), the MP5 submachine gun (3), and more MP5 clips (4). Do not throw the lever as it will activate the alarms and lasers. If the MP was successful in reaching the alarm, then he will activate lasers, making it impossible for Lara to reach the MP5.

Turn around and exit the room and turn right. Push the button to open the small grate to the left. Crawl into the opening and stand up. Pick up the large Medi Pack (5) on the right and turn back to the left. Run forward and climb into the hole.

Watch out for the lasers that are sweeping back and forth in the passage ahead. Crawl into the space and when the lasers sweep to the right, crawl to the left until Lara is beyond the lasers and can stand up. Light a flare to illuminate this dark alcove and pick up a large Medi Pack (6). Turn around and wait until the laser sweeps down the hall, crouch down and crawl forward to the middle of the tunnel.

When the laser sweeps overhead, stand up and run forward. Quickly climb up the ladder to the higher ledge. From there, climb up into the next crawlspace, crawl forward quickly through the tunnel, stand, and turn right. Another MP (2) will spot Lara and head off to arm some lasers. Draw the Desert Eagle and kill the MP before he reaches the alarm. Turn around and throw the switch on the right wall to open the steel doors on the left. Enter the doorway to find a prisoner (3). Run around behind the left door and pick up a small Medi Pack (7).

Run back around the door and run down the hall. A security gun (4) is mounted in the next room, and is activated by green lasers in that room. It is possible to avoid green the lasers in the next room, but a much better strategy is to head to the crawlspace part way down the hall on the right side. If the MP managed to activate the alarm, then it will be necessary to crouch down and crawl under the red lasers. Turn right and crouch down Crawl into the space between the two concrete pillars, turn left and crawl forward. Stand up and pick up a box of flares (8). Climb up onto the higher ledge and crawl forward into the next room.

Run forward into the next hallway. Turn left, draw weapons and run up the hall. Kill the MP (5) ahead before he activates an alarm and closes off a door on the right. Enter the room on the right and collect a bundle of harpoons (9), a pair of grenades (10), and a rocket (11). Ignore the button on the right which will only close the door to this room. Exit this room and turn right. Run down the hall and turn left. At the far end of the hallway is a switch on the right wall. Run down the hall and run up to the switch.

Throw the switch and immediately draw weapons while Lara is still falling. Lara will land on a slope and slide forward. Reverse roll when Lara hits the ground and take a side flip to the left. Quickly kill the Area 51 sniper (6) before he activates the alarms. If he activates the alarm, then two German shepherds (7, 8) will arrive.

Run forward and to the left of the ledge the trooper was running on and duck down. Crawl forward into a crawlspace that is illuminated in green. Collect a pair of grenades (12) and continue crawling forward. When Lara is past the crawlspace, stand up and climb out of the small pit. Turn right and run past the trench in the middle of the structure until Lara reaches the distant support. Pick up the shotgun shells (13) from the corner.

Reverse roll and run forward dropping into trench that surrounds the central support. Turn left and run around the central support and locate the switch. Pull the switch to raise a grating below and continue around the support. Run forward and the grating will drop out beneath Lara. Draw weapons and take out the MP (9) that is guarding the area beneath the metal grating. After he's dead locate the side of the trench with the crawlspaces.
SECRET #1
If the sniper did not activate the alarm, then there should be two open gratings down here. Crawl into the one that leads to an alcove to find SECRET #1, and collect a crystal (14). If the sniper activated the alarm, then the grating that leads to this alcove will be closed and inaccessible3. Turn around and crawl out of this alcove.
Crawl into the tunnel which Lara opened with the switch above. Once inside the crawlspace, crawl into the alcove on the right to collect Desert Eagle clips (15). Crawl back out of the alcove and continue to the end of the tunnel. Stand up and turn right. Step forward and pick up MP5 clips (16). Turn around and watch for the military policeman (10) below to walk past away from Lara. Draw weapons, run forward and the trapdoor will drop out from underneath Lara. Take him out and collect a small Medi Pack (17) from him.

Turn around and head to the end of the hallway that bends to the left. Run to the end of the hall and throw the switch on the left to open the cell door on the right. A prisoner (11) will emerge from the cell and rush out to take out an MP (12) that will be alerted by the open cell door4. Take a few side flips to the left and draw weapons take out the MP before the prisoner gets a chance to reach him. Turn right and enter the tiny cell. Turn right and crawl down into an escape tunnel that the prisoner must have started to dig. Light a flare to help see and crawl to the right to pick up a large Medi Pack (18).
Shotgun
Crawl out of the tunnel and exit the cell. Run forward and follow the hallway as it bends right. Run down the hallway past the glass floors. The hallway ends at an intersection with a smaller hallway. At both ends of the intersecting hallway are security guns (13, 14) and yellow and green lasers. Instead of dealing with the guns, stop just past the glass doors, head to the left wall and crouch down. Crawl into the hole and pick up a large Medi Pack (19). Run forward and drop down to the lower ledge and pick up the shotgun (20). Crawl forward until Lara can stand.

Turn left and draw weapons. Run down the slope. There might be an MP (15) as Lara rounds the next corner on the left, if the prisoner hadn't already taken him out or he didn't rush upstairs when Lara released the prisoner. At this corner, Lara can find a button to activate a security camera that will show Lara what's going on in a room nearby. If the one of the MPs activated the alarms, this button will also shut off a laser trap that came on with the alarms. At the far corner is a sniper (16). Draw weapons and run forward to take him out. There is another security monitor that Lara can activate with a button to peek into another room.

Run back down to the middle of this hallway where it joins a short hallway that leads to some open doors. Draw weapons and as Lara approaches the open doors, they will slam shut and the two doors to the rooms on the left and right will pop open. If Lara's been watching the security monitors, then she'll know what's coming next. A sniper (17, 18) will emerge from each room. Take them out quickly and collect a small Medi Pack (21) from the sniper that emerges from the room on the right.

Enter the room on the left and throw the switch to raise the grating on in the room on the right. Turn and enter the room on the right and crawl into the opened crawlspace. Crawl up the slope until the crawlspace becomes to steep to continue to crawl. Turn left and crawl forward until Lara can stand. Lara will find herself on the other side of the doors that slammed shut earlier.

Run forward and draw weapons. Run up the slope, through the green lasers. An MP (19) will charge down the slope. Kill him and run up the slope. Turn left and run up the next slope. Turn right at the top of the hallway and run forward until it intersects with another tunnel. Turn right and run up the next slope that zigs to the left. Draw weapons as Lara nears the top of the slope. Across the rocket silo, there is a sniper (20). Lara can use the Desert Eagle to kill him from within the tunnel.
Code Clearance Disk #1
Run the rest of the way up the slope and when Lara enters the rocket silo, turn right and safety drop to the floor of the silo 5. Run around to the opposite side of the silo and climb up the ladder. Shift to the right and release to reach the platform that the sniper was on. Collect the Code Clearance Disk (22) from him and safety drop to the floor again. Run across the silo and climb up the other ladder, ignoring the tunnel for now. Shift to the right and release to return to the first ledge.

Run down the tunnel, past the zigs to the left. Continue past the hallway that leads back to the left. Continue forward past the glass and turn right. Run forward and to the left past the closed door and turn to face away from the edge. Climb down the ladder and turn around. Examine the room to find a pair of green lasers ahead and to the right. They activate a security gun (21) suspended from the ceiling ahead. Run to the left until Lara passes two small missiles and a ladder on the left. Pick up a small Medi Pack (23) from the the dark area down beside the conveyor belt in front of the steel bars.

Reverse roll and run back past the two missiles that are on the conveyors. Turn left and take a jump over the laser, and then turn right and take a jump over the second laser. Put the code clearance disk into the orange computer and the cranes will raise the two missiles.

Turn around and take a jump over the laser. Run forward and climb onto the higher ledge. Step forward then turn left and wait for the crane to swing past. Run forward and pick up the box a of shotgun shells (24). Drop off the left side of the ledge to the floor. Turn right and climb onto the conveyor between the two blocks. Take a running jump and grab to reach the ladder. Climb up the ladder and shift to the left when Lara reaches the upper level.
Hanger Access Key
Reverse roll and run forward to the gap in the upper level. There is a sniper (22) hiding behind the wall in the far right corner. Draw weapons and take a side flip to the left to open fire on the sniper. If Lara isn't using the shotgun or Desert Eagle, then continue side flipping left and right to avoid his fire. When he's dead, take a jump across the the gap. Take another jump over the next gap and turn right. Run to the corner and collect the Hanger Access Key (25) from the dead sniper. Turn around and run forward to the end of the gap. Side step to the left and then hop backwards to safety drop down to the ledge below. Ahead and to the left is the swinging crane.
SECRET #2
Draw weapons and jump up and blast the aluminum grating open. Run forward, climb into passage which is SECRET #2, and turn left. Run to the end of this tunnel and turn around. Climb down the ladder to the granite area below. Turn right and run down the tunnel underneath the two small missile silos to collect a crystal (26). Turn around and run back to the ladder. Turn right and climb the ladder. Run forward and turn right.
When the crane arm swings past, run forward and drop off the left side of the ledge to the floor below. Run forward and turn right before crossing the green laser beam. Climb up the ladder and turn left. Run forward and diagonally to the left to enter the room past the security glass.

Turn left and run forward past the hallway that leads back to the right. Run forward up the sloping hallway that zigs left and then back to the right until Lara is back at the rocket silo. Turn right and run forward. Safety drop to the floor. Turn right and forward into the tunnel. In the room ahead, be careful not to fall into the hole, and run into the tunnel beyond.

Turn right and run to the end of the tunnel. Use the hanger key to open the door on the right. Draw weapons and run inside and turn left. Take out an MP (23) that's in the next room. Walk to the edge of the platform and drop to the ground below. Watch out for the electrified train tracks. If Lara touches it the current will electrocute her. Turn left and run to the end of the tunnel.

When Lara gets to the ladder turn left and climb up the ladder. Run forward and to the left and push the button to summon a train. Turn left and run back to the edge. Turn around and climb down the ladder. Turn around and crouch down. Crawl under the electric train tracks and when Lara reaches the other side, turn right and run forward until Lara reaches a ladder on the left. Climb the ladder and enter the tunnel. Collect the box of shotgun shells (27).

Turn around and walk to the edge. Have Lara aim for the train and take a running jump to reach it. Turn left and walk to the front end of the train. Jump up and grab to reach a tunnel above the train tracks. Walk forward onto the first set of metal grates. Stop before Lara reaches the second set of grates.

Jump up and grab the wire mesh above and swing forward. As Lara swings forward, the grates will drop open beneath her. Stop before Lara reaches the third trapdoor and the sweep of the lasers. When the laser starts to sweep away, quickly swing forward and release when Lara is clear of the last trapdoor and run forward until Lara is out of the hall.

Run forward and drop down to the platform on the left side of the hole. Turn right, draw weapons, and take a standing jump over the electrified tracks to the platform. An MP (24) will spot Lara and start to run away to get help. Lara can take him out on sight or wait until he returns. Drop backwards to the lower platform and turn right and run forward. Pick up a box of shotgun shells (28) on the ground the near the electrified train tracks. Turn around, head back to the end of the tracks and climb up onto the platform.

Turn left and run into the tunnel and up the slope. Follow the tunnel as it winds left, then right, then back to the left. If Lara allowed the previous MP to get help, there will be a sniper6 (25) waiting here in an alcove on the right. Lara will be able to see the red laser from his rifle. If he's here, take him out and then run forward. Take jumps over the three laser beams that will activate the security gun (26) mounted from the ceiling in the corner. The first two laser beams are green, but the last one is yellow and will inflict damage if Lara crosses that beam. If Lara looks into the windows on the left, she will see some kind of UFO. Turn left and run to the next corner where there is another security gun (27).

Turn left and run forward. Climb over the crates. Drop down the other side of the crates. Draw weapons, run forward and turn right. Run forward and take out an MP (28) in the next room. In the room ahead, there is another security gun (29) mounted in the far right corner.

Climb onto the control panels in the center of the room. Turn left and walk to the edge of the console and take a standing jump and grab to reach the catwalk ahead. Pull up, turn left and run to the end of the catwalk and push the button to open the first set of steel doors and close the trap doors in the room between the two sets of steel doors. Turn around and run down the catwalk and turn right and drop down to the console below. Reverse roll, draw weapons and take out a sniper (30) that will arrive from the hallway ahead.

After this sniper is dead, reverse roll and head to the opposite end of the console. Take another standing jump and grab to reach the catwalk on the opposite side of the room. Pull up and turn right. Run forward to the end of this platform and push the other button to open the second set of security doors. Reverse roll and run to the other end of the catwalk. Turn left and drop down to the ground. Reverse roll and take out another sniper (31) that will attack from the hallway on this side of the room.

Both sets of doors and the trapdoors are on timers. If there is still time run inside. Otherwise, climb back up to the catwalks to press the buttons to open the steel doors. Sprint through the doors and draw weapons. To the left are a bank of switches. Behind the switches is a sniper (32). After taking him out, Lara needs to throw the second, fourth and fifth switches, counting from the left, to open the the doors to the UFO bay. Turn left and run to the small doorway in the wall to the right of the double doors.

Run forward and drop to the floor of the control room. Run forward across the control room and exit through the hall on the other side of the control room. Turn left and climb up over the crates. Run forward and drop down from the crates. Run to the corner and turn right. Run forward and turn right and enter the UFO bay.

Run to the right of the UFO to the far right corner. Press the button in the corner to drop a platform above the ladder. Side step to the right and climb the ladder until Lara is past the platform that she just dropped. Back flip and Lara will land on a ledge. Turn around and step forward to pick up a box of shotgun shells (29).

Lara can either turn left, walk forward and take a running jump to the sloped support structure. This slope is too steep for Lara to stand on, but hopefully, she will slide backwards. Grab the edge, pull up and take a back flip and Lara will land on the platform below. If flipping down to the platform is too difficult, Lara can make her way around the room the long way by walking forward to the first structure, taking a running jump to the second support structure ahead, angle left and take a standing jump to the next structure. Turn left and and take another running jump to the next sloped structure. Run forward and Lara will land on the platform below.
Launch Code Pass
Turn left and run to the end of the platform. Safety drop onto the UFO. Collect the Launch Code Pass (30) and slide off of the floor of the bay. Exit the bay and turn right. Run to the corner and turn right again. Take three jumps over the three lasers. Run forward into the hall and follow it as it turns right, then left and back right.

Return to the train platform and turn right. Run to the end of the ledge and stay against the wall. Take a running jump to the small ledge on the opposite side of the tracks. Climb the ladder and shift left when Lara reaches the platform above. Let go and turn left. Run forward to the narrow hallway with the laser trap and run to the the open grates.

When the laser trap sweeps back over head, immediately jump up and grab the mesh above. Swing forward until Lara reaches the end of the mesh and can safely release. Run forward and drop back down on the train. Turn left and drop to the ground. Run forward and turn left and vault up onto the other train platform. Run forward and turn right and enter the tunnel. Follow it as it turns to the left twice. Safety drop into the hole.

Reverse roll and run forward. Pull the switch on the right wall to open the door that leads to the area below the missile. Enter the area and turn right. Use the launch code pass in the card slot on the side of the launch controls to open the launch button guard. Run around to the front of the panel.

Push the button to launch the rocket and immediately reverse roll and run diagonally to the right and sprint to the end of the room as the rocket's flames fill the launch area. When the rocket has launched, reverse and run back, past the launch controls, to the launch area. Turn left and return to the previous tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, climb the ladder on the left and shift left when Lara reaches the level above.

Turn left and run forward to return to the rocket silo. Once Lara is in the silo, take a hairpin turn and climb the ladder on the same wall as the tunnel that Lara just stepped out of. Climb past the first level, and shift right and let go to reach the higher ledge. Turn left and run to the corner. Turn right and take a running jump7 to a small ledge in the adjacent corner to pick up a large Medi Pack (31).

Turn around and take a running jump back to the previous ledge. Climb up the second ladder, shift left, immediately draw weapons and reverse roll. Kill an MP (33) that is guarding this upper ledge. Turn around and pull the switch to open the door. Enter the door and turn right. Run forward and crawl into the crawlspace. Turn right and wait until the laser sweeps away. Crawl forward until Lara can stand up. Take a standing jump forward over the laser trap. Quickly run forward and duck down and crawl forward to safety.

Run forward into the alcove and collect the grenades (32). Reverse roll and run out of the alcove. Turn left and run down the hall and turn left. Run to the end of the tunnel and climb up onto the ledge. Draw weapons and run forward. Take out a sniper (34) up on the guard tower and an MP (35) patrolling the yard.
Code Clearance Disk #2
With weapons still drawn, turn right and run down the slope toward an underground bunker. As Lara approaches the doorway, another sniper (36) will attack from inside the bunker. Eliminate him and collect the Code Clearance Disk (33) from him. Enter the bunker and pull the switch on the left wall to open a trapdoor in the yard.

Turn left and exit the bunker. Run around to the far side of the guard tower and climb the guard tower and pick up MP5 clips (34) from the top of the tower. Climb back down the guard tower and then drop into the trapdoor. Run down the tunnel and when the tunnel turns right, stop and look down the next hall. There is another laser trap ahead. Wait until the laser sweeps away from Lara and run forward. Before the laser sweeps back, duck down too let it sweep over Lara's head.

Crawl forward and turn left. Walk to the end of the tunnel and take a standing jump and grab to reach the wire grating ahead. Climb down and reverse roll. Run forward out of the open door to a tunnel Lara was in earlier and turn left. Run up the tunnel and follow it as it winds left, then right and back left. Run forward and take three jumps over the three lasers. Turn left and run forward and then turn left again to enter the UFO bay. Run forward past the UFO and enter the room beyond. Turn left and then put the code clearance disk in the computer on the left. The computer activates the lights in the examination room opposite the computer, opens the doors to the left and to the exam room, and opens a trap door in the bottom of the UFO.

Turn around and enter the examination room. There is a dead alien on the bed on the left. Collect a crystal (35), and a small Medi Pack (36) from the diagonally opposite corner of the examination room. Exit the exam room and turn left. Run forward across the room and enter the other open doorway and turn left.

In the next room there is an aquarium on the right with two killer whales and an alien in a case on the left. Run forward and turn right to run around the aquarium and collect a box of flares (37) and Desert Eagle Clips (38). Turn around and run back around the aquarium to the left, and then right back to the previous room. Turn left to return to the UFO bay.

Climb up the ladder on the left and back flip onto the ledge above. Turn around walk forward onto to the first support structure on the right. Take a running jump to to the next support. Take a standing jump diagonally to the left to the next support structure. Turn left and take a running jump to the next support structure. Angle to the left and take a standing jump angled to the left to the next support structure. Finally take one more running jump to the last support. Take a running jump and grab to land inside an open doorway.
SECRET #3
Turn left and run forward into SECRET #3. Walk forward and watch the laser traps. When the lower laser sweeps toward Lara, take a jump over it and sprint forward to safety. Turn left and slide into the pool and collect a crystal (39). Don't worry about the orca, as they won't attack Lara nor can she shoot them. While in the water be sure to enjoy some whale songs. Swim back to the hole and surface an pull up out of the water. Turn right and climb up to the higher ledge. Run forward and turn left and stand in front of the laser traps. Run forward halfway down the hall when the lower laser trap sweeps away from Lara. Take a standing jump over the lasers as they sweep back toward her and run forward and climb up out of the trench. Make sure Lara has more than half her health before running forward, turning right and safety dropping to the ground. Lara will take significant damage when she lands
Run underneath the UFO and climb into the open trapdoor. Run around either side of the structure and climb up through the next hole. Against all known laws of physics, the inside of the UFO is larger than the outside. The chamber above has two glowing triangles on the ground that are producing steam and two vertical columns. Behind one of them is a sniper (37), and a tunnel that leads up to a blue opening. Draw weapons and take out the sniper before running up the hallway.
Element 1158
Climb up into the next chamber. The periphery of this chamber has four small transparent chambers that are either empty or contain aliens. In front of each chamber are chairs and in the center of the room is another artifact floating and spinning in midair. When Lara approaches the center structure, two more snipers (38, 39) will appear from behind support columns. With weapons drawn, approach the artifact and take out the two snipers. Finally, collect Element 1158 (40).

Lara looks around the control room of what appears to be a space craft3. Amazingly, the inside of the craft is larger than the outside. The walls are composed of an unknown material and Lara can see humanoid forms behind some of the transparent walls.

In the center of the control room is one of these strange artifacts. The artifact is spinning in midair. Lara reaches out and grabs the artifact from its place and suddenly the alien space craft becomes dark. It is as if the artifact was the power source for the craft.

Lara quickly exits the craft, taking one last look at the craft before heading out. She does her best to avoid being detected as she makes her way out of the facilities. She clears the main building but hesitates before trying to make her way across the dry lake bed towards the surrounding mountains. Although it is already evening, the dry lake bed provides very little cover for her movements before sunset.

Lara decides that she is unable to make her escape under the current conditions, so she turns back and finds a storage container. She climbs inside and hides in the darkness to wait for night fall. Lara is exhausted, and without realizing it, she falls asleep and wakes up several hours later when it is pitch black.

Lara begins making her way from building to building. She knows that the snipers inside have night vision gear. She rounds the corner of a building and sees the headlights of several automobiles driving up the main road toward the facilities. Lara quickly scampers back around the corner to avoid being seen. She turns and starts to run along the building to the back side.

When she rounds the next corner, she slams into a tall bulky man. Both Lara and the man are startled and both let out an "Oof" when they collide. The man drops his flashlight, but immediately locks his arms around Lara's waist, locking her arms to her side. She begins to squirm and kick to break his hold.

Beside him is a woman, well dressed in a business suit with medium length red hair, also carrying a flashlight. The woman shines the light on Lara and she can see the man. He is tall with short dark hair and he is wearing a dark trench-coat.

"Easy!" the man tells her. Lara stops struggling and takes a second look at the man.

"I... I recognize you," Lara tells him. She looks the man over and imagines him, dirty, unshaven, and dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Lara finally places him, "You're one of the prisoners I let out the other day..."

"No time..." the man tells her. They both reach into their jackets and produce FBI badges. "Come with us," the man says, and he and the woman walk back along the building toward the main building Lara managed to escape from only hours earlier. Lara is a little flustered, but goes with her instincts and follows after the two.

The cars have arrived at the front of the main building and military officers step out of the AM General Hummer at the lead, while more men wearing dark suits step out of the dark sedans behind the Hummer. They are all being escorted by a man in military uniform. By all the little metal stars and bars on the military man's uniform, she can only assume that he must be a general. The officer produces a security card key from his pocket and slides it through electronic card reader, and the main doors slide open.

All the men step inside. The tall FBI agent has a look of determination on his face and storms ahead of the group. The general is doing his best to keep in stride with the agent. Lara can hear the general arguing with the agent, "I assure you there are no such projects in existence."

The FBI agent, while facing forward, asks the general, "Do you deny that these facilities are borrowing extra-terrestrial technology to develop top-secret air craft and weapons?"

The general replies angrily, "I most certainly deny it!"

The FBI agent makes his next accusation, "What about the NRL satellite tracking indicating that a large rocket that was launched from this facility and then promptly crashed down in the Nellis Gunnery Range?"

The general is ready with an explanation, "We were simply testing some of our long range rockets. One misfired and the fail-safe guidance systems made the rocket ditch in the gunnery range."

The FBI agent pauses to look skeptically at the general and the agent continues his charge forward until the group arrives at the hanger where Lara found the space craft. When they step into the bay Lara gasps. The FBI agent whispers, "Impossible."

The bay looks completely different. Instead of a single huge tall room with an opening overhead, the room is now much shorter. The entire bay is now a multilevel warehouse with a closed ceiling. The hallway that formerly lead to the medical bay is now blocked by a solid wall. There isn't any evidence of the strange craft. The FBI agent and the general begin to argue.

Military men begin to approach Lara and take her by the arms. The redheaded female FBI agent walks over and tells the MP's that the woman is under her jurisdiction. The MP's aren't sure what to do without input from commanding officers, so they release Lara. The FBI agent escorts Lara out of the building while the other agents and military men argue.

As Lara is escorted out of the building and driven off the base, somewhere the older man in the wrinkled grey suit is watching the whole farce played out on a security monitor. His pursed lips are almost smiling. The MP that is standing next to him who is also watching the monitor turns and asks the older man, "Do you want me to go after her?"

The older man, not taking his eyes off the monitor, replies, "No. Let her go. Killing her will not advance our objectives but only present us with a messy situation that will not be easily covered up with a simple obituary. Our objectives have been accomplished precisely as planned." The MP still doesn't understand, and shakes his head. The old man lights a cigarette and says, "The object is immaterial to us now. It has served its purpose and so has this woman. She holds nothing with which to confirm the truth, much less know its exact nature, and so cannot levy any accusations. The only policy is to preserve the silence, and that is precisely what our version of the events does. Time is precious, and we can waste little to complete this assignment without further incident. Remember, rumors cannot hurt the consortium." He takes a long drag from his cigarette as the MP merely nods and walks out of the room.

The woman FBI agent drives Lara off the air force base and directly to the Las Vegas airport. As they drive away, the car stereo is tuned to a local NPR radio station which is currently reading the headline news, "...reporting from member station, KUNV, Las Vegas. Tragedy struck today at the gunnery range at Nellis Air Force Base. A long range rocket misfired during routine servicing and the rocket's on-board fail-safe mechanisms caused the rocket to crash into the Nellis gunnery range. Forty three servicemen and ten civilians were killed in the unfortunate accident. Air Force spokesmen..."

The FBI agent reaches forward and turns off the radio. There is silence during the remainder of the ride as Lara attempts to make sense of this these events. When the car finally pulls up at the airport passenger drop off, Lara asks the agent, "Why are you helping me?"

The woman, looking tired, turns to her and says, "Whatever your motives were, your efforts have jeopardized an orchestrated hoax. You can choose to believe in unexplained phenomena, but only the truth will result in justice. Without it, all that the future will hold for us will be lies and fear. I don't presume what is true or what is an elaborate fabrication, but you have helped move us closer to that truth and when my conscience collaborates orders, I follow them." Lara gets out of the car and closes the door. The car rolls away and Lara is left standing on the curb. (follow plot)

Footnotes:
  1. At this point in the game you can choose whether to go to the South Pacific or London next, the Traveler's Guide, for somewhat arbitrary reasons (we wanted to save London for last because it seemed to be the "coolest levels"), has chosen to list the South Pacific levels next in numerical order. However, there is no reason why you couldn't go to the London levels next so for this reason, we have included the links to those levels of the game as well.

  2. We realize that it is possible that you may have already completed both the South Pacific and London levels at this point, therefore we include the Antarctica links here as well. Use these links only if you have completed Nevada, South Pacific, and the London levels.

  3. Please note that this segment of plot does not appear in any cut scene or full motion video sequence. The following paragraphs of plot were wholly fabricated by the staff of the Traveler's Guide. Any resemblance of characters portrayed in this story to any persons real or fictional is purely coincidental.

  4. Tim Morrow points out that its possible to get the secret and get the two German shepherds by dropping into the grate first and getting the secret, and then climbing out and letting the sniper activate the alarm. Thanks Tim.

  5. When the prisoner emerges, an MP will arrive. The prisoner will immediately attack the MP, and if he kills the MP, he will proceed downstairs to attack the other MP below. To maximize kills in this level, you can kill the MP and the sniper in the room below before returning and releasing the prisoner.

  6. I've found that it's actually possible to take a standing jump from the corner of this ledge, through the low barricade to the ledge with the sniper. This appears to be similar to the fence bug which was most notably exploited near the end of the Return to Egypt level. You may have difficulty making this jump, so I mention the less direct method of dropping to the floor in the main walkthrough.

  7. Thanks once again to Igor Kudrnovsky for his editorial work on this level. He let me know about this kill as well as a series of incorrect lefts and rights.

  8. Thanks to Richard Morton, head level designer for Tomb Raider 3, for confirming that the item at the end of Nevada should be named Element 115. Additional thanks go to to Ian Taylor for initially confirming for us that Lara picks up Element 115 at the end of this level in the Sony PlayStation version of Tomb Raider 3. Players of the North American PC version of Tomb Raider 3 will find that the object that Lara picks up is named the Ora Dagger here instead of Element 115. It is a logical conclusion that Element 115 should be found in Nevada because it is claimed by certain individuals to be the power source for space vehicles of extra-terrestrial origins. Read this article for a synopsis and more information about Element 115 and Bob Lazer, who is the man who proposed this theory.
