Nevada Desert |

| Welcome to the Nevada Desert. There are a few very tricky spots in this level. Here are hints to help you along. | |||
Narrow Ledge
This will be something new to all of us. From on top of the rock arch where the steel structure is, Lara will have to take a running jump to a very narrow little rocky ledge. The ledge is actually only half the width of a normal ledge, but Lara can still get to it. Be careful running around on the ledge.
Optical Illusions
The whole point of the trek around the little ledges and the drop down to the ledge above the quicksand, of course, is to get you onto the stone arch so you can see what's on top of the steel structure. Well, from the ledge above the quick sand, you will be able to see two ledges on the rock arch that look like you should be able to reach them. The funny thing is that the steeper looking one (well, it looks steeper on my PC) on the left is the one you need to get to. Trying to grab the ledge on the right will get you a little mud bath.
Rock Climbing
A quick drop into the hole in the middle of the steel structure will land you in a pool of water. You don't have many choices after that. You will ultimately end up on a ledge above a canyon. There will be a waterfall on your left and a river below you. You need to make your way around the canyon using little rock ledges, starting on your right. Aim and take your jumps carefully. The tiniest mistake will result in a dip in the river below. Sooner or later you will end up down there, but if you do, you will probably have to read the next hint to help you along.
Wrong Jump
If you're in the river in the bottom of the canyon and you want to climb back out, you will need to find the rock ledge to pull up out of the water. There is only one such ledge on the left side of the canyon, if you're facing the waterfalls, near the falls. From there, you climb up to a higher ledge and turn right. At this point you look across the river to find a ledge, three blocks away. You will be tempted to take a running jump and grab to reach that block, and in normal situations, you would be correct. In this situation, grabbing is the wrong thing to do.
So Close...
You're trekking you way around this canyon because you can see the bobbing spinning crystal high above the canyon... just taunting you. If you've made your way to the ledge where two F-117 stealth fighters fly by over your head, then you know you're just a couple of sloping rocks away from your goal. There are at least two ways to get around this obstacle. The one you are meant to use is right underneath your feet. Perhaps you should dangle off the ledge to see what I'm talking about. There is another, much faster, way to deal with this obstacle. You'll have to figure that out for yourself if you don't read about it in my walkthrough for this level.
No Keys, No Boom
So you've found the detonator and now you're ready to do some demolition. You'll need to find a key to operate the detonator. Before you leave the area, you might want to take a look around. Be particularly careful of what is lurking in the dark. Once you are aware of the danger, you can avoid it when the time comes. Get over to the waterfall and see where the water is coming from. You'll find the key you need back there. This will involve a little rock climbing.
Hydroelectric
After climbing the rock wall beside the waterfall, you'll need to take a flip to safety. This won't be a problem if you didn't cancel the cinematic view of what's going on. From there you have a couple of choices in terms of getting onto one of the ledges inside the tunnel. From there you're just a hop skip and a jump away from finding the water wheel. The elevator containing your prize is out of reach. You need to find the juice it takes to bring it up. That big structure is definitely involved. Climb onto it and explore what's beyond. Be careful of taking a spill into the water. It will mean an inadvertent trip over the falls, and it's back to the start again.
Dam Levers
Once you make it to the dam, you need to take a swim to locate a couple of underwater levers. Eventually, you'll find your way to the top of the dam, where you can really make things happen.
Let's Blow Somethin' Up
With the elevator up, you can collect the detonator switch. From there it's a long trip back to the detonator to wreak a little havoc. From there, it's back down the slope to check out what your little explosion did. The dynamite has blown the ceiling off the cave. You need to find the ledges around the corners of the cave to climb out of this area.
Shocking!
Avoid the fences. Those little red lightning bolts indicate that the fences are electrified. Contact with the fence will result in a little sizzling sound and an unpleasant burning aroma.
Hole in One
Check out the area. Don't worry about the workers because they're safely behind the fences. After you run around enough, you will find a wide steep tunnel that leads down to a couple of rattlesnakes. You'll need to cover that area later. First you need to find a little hole to crawl into to get inside the compound. Once inside, it will be tempting to just charge into the tunnel and drop into the lower tunnel. When you come to the point in the tunnel where it bends to the left and drops down, hit the look key. You will find that you have more than one option there.
High Road
So you can't get through the fence, and you can't get under the fence. If you check out all the twists of the little tunnel, then you will be making your way to a couple of levers and switches. When you're done running around, you should find that you have another option for dealing with the fence.
Don't Touch That Dial
After you're done wandering around the compound and dealing with unfriendlies, you're probably looking for something else to do. Well, don't touch that switch on the main gates. The fence isn't the only thing that's electrified. After you're done looking around you'll find that you still need another item to get into the generator room. The thing you're looking for is nearby, but it will take a little doing to get there.
Just Grate!
The thing you're looking for is on top of the roof of the building you want to get into. There are two different ways to get up there, but one of them may not be available to you, so you might as well try the other. Getting the quad bike onto the roof safely isn't easy. You'll need to hit the brakes hard or reverse when you get up there or you may find Lara skidding it off the roof on the other side of the building. Keep your eye on that grate. When it goes up, you can stop your quad bike hijinks.
Quad Bike Acrobatics
Once you get access to the generator room and shut off power to the fences, you can open the front gates and get out of here. You'll need to take the quad bike. Head down the steep tunnel and notice the "No Trespassing" signs down there. When have you ever paid any attention to signs?
