Sleeping with the Fishes

After crawling through the tunnel debris, Lara finds a secret entrance to an underwater laboratory1. Her competition for the Fifth Artifact seems to be well-financed. The underwater loading docks must be for some sort of clandestine operation. Is this a government installation or a private enterperise? Lara knows of only one person with that kind of money...(follow plot)

Notice that some chunnel worker appears to be a fan of Lara's. When Lara is sufficiently creeped out, reverse roll and step forward. Turn right, step into the alcove with the yellow door and pick up a bundle of harpoons (1).

Reverse roll, and run forward through this chamber. Turn right and drop down to the lower ledge, turn left, and step forward. Pick up the box of flares (2), and Lara will notice what's going on in the chamber beyond the window.

Turn left, vault out of this lower ledge, and turn right. Run forward into the next hallway and turn right. Run forward until Lara reaches a room with two hatches and a hallway that leads off to the left.

Turn left and run forward into the next hallway. Lara will pass a small round window and come to a opening that leads to a pool. There is an SL Inc. guard (1) patrolling the ledge high above the pool ahead. If Lara uses the MP5 she can take him down now.

Run around the pool counter-clockwise until Lara comes to a wheel. Spin the wheel to open the door to the restricted area, which Lara can see through the window, above. If Lara didn't take out the guard he will emerge through the door and make his attack.

Turn left and run forward to drop into the pool. Swim down through the opening in the bottom of the structure, and level Lara out. Continue swimming forward and Lara will swim into an underwater tunnel that leads to a larger underwater cavern. Do not proceed into the cavern, but pick up the bundle of harpoons (3) on the floor of the underwater tunnel.

Flip turn and swim back up through the opening and surface in the pool for a breath. Now dive back down, swim through the opening and turn left. Swim forward until Lara locates a opening leading up into the structure.

Swim up into the opening and take a hairpin turn to the right. When Lara spirals around she will find a lever on the wall ahead. Pull the lever and a gate will open and alert a SL Inc. scuba diver (2).

Flip turn2, draw the harpoon gun, open fire on the scuba diver, and juke side to side to try to dodge his harpoons. When he is dead, swim through the newly opened gate and surface. Pull up out of the water and walk around the room to pick up three boxes of shotgun shells (4, 5, 6), and a bundle of harpoons (7).

Drop back into the water, swim through the underwater gate, and then down out of the structure. Turn right and swim back to the larger opening that leads up to the bigger pool. Surface, turn right and pull up out of the water.

Run forward and exit this area. Turn right and run back up the steps to the junction. Turn right again run down the tunnel and enter the bulkhead door that Lara opened earlier. Turn left, vault up onto the ledge and pick up a small Medi Pack (8).

Reverse roll, run off the ledge, up the steps and run forward to the end of the ledge, and turn right. Run forward to the alcove at the end of the ledge, and pick up a pair of MP5 clips (9). Reverse roll, run forward until Lara reaches an adjoining passage to the right.

Turn right, step forward and slide into the water. Lara will find herself in a large underwater cage. Swim down and to the left to find a lever on Lara's right. Turn right, pull the lever, an alarm will sound alerting two SL Inc. scuba divers (3, 4) of an intruder.

Quickly turn right, swim forward, and turn left to exit the cage. Swim forward, past the two divers, and surface. Quickly, pull out of the water, turn left, and run to the alcove in the corner to escape the diver's harpoons.

Draw pistols, reverse roll and open fire on the two divers, jumping side to side to avoid their harpoons as necessary. When it's safe to explore, vault up onto the wide ledge and pick up a box of flares (10). Drop to the ledge beyond, turn left and run forward. Vault up onto the smaller ledge, and pick up a bundle of harpoons (11).

Turn around, run forward to drop to the floor, and run forward. Turn right and vault back up to the wider ledge. Run forward and turn left. Step into the alcove and push the blue button to open an underwater gate elsewhere.

Turn around and step out of the alcove. Angle Lara to the left and run forward to drop to the floor beyond. Run forward and take a running jump over or vault up onto the pile of yellow crates in the corner.

Take a hairpin turn to the left and pull the green crate once. Turn left, vault up onto the yellow crate. Turn right and run forward, dropping to the floor. Turn right and step up onto the yellow ledge between the two green crates.

Turn left, and push the other crate once to reveal a passage. Turn right, and run down the passage, which should turn off the alarms, and pick up a small Medi Pack (12). Reverse roll, run forward out of the passage, and step down to the floor.

Drop into the water, swim down and forward toward the cage that Lara exited through earlier. When Lara nears the cage swim upward and then flip turn to locate a ledge. Pick up a pair of Uzi clips3 (13).

Turn right and swim forward until Lara reaches a tunnel. Follow the tunnel as it turns to the right, up, to the left. Swim forward, pick up two bundles of harpoons (14, 15), as the tunnel kinks to the right.

Swim forward, turn left and swim across the vast expanse of open water where Lara will encounter two dolphins. Allow the currents to drag Lara across the expanse. Turn left and swim into a small tunnel. Follow the tunnel down.
SECRET #1
Turn left when Lara reaches the bottom of the tunnel and pull up into SECRET #1. Run forward, and pick up a large Medi Pack (16), a bundle of harpoons (17), and another large Medi Pack (18). Drop back into the water and swim down.
Turn right when Lara reaches the bottom of the tunnel4. Surface and tread water forward. Look down the hallway to spot an SL Inc. guard (5) patrolling the hallway. Wait for the guard to turn his back, pull up out of the water, turn left, draw weapons and charge at him while firing. Run past him while firing, reverse roll, and repeat until he falls.

Pick up the MP5 Clips (19) that he drops. Drop into the water and swim along toward the far end of the netted off area. Along the way, pick up a bundle of harpoons (20), and a small Medi Pack (21) at the very end.

Turn around and swim all the way back down the netted off area to find a break in the netting. Turn right, and swim through the netting back into the open area of water. Angle Lara to the right and swim back to the opening in the middle of the structure and surface for air.

Dive down and turn right and locate the large gates that Lara opened earlier with the blue button. Swim forward and enter the underwater passageway that Lara opened earlier. Swim forward until Lara comes to large yellow structure.

Swim into the opening at the bottom of the structure and surface in chamber surrounded by glass. Lara can look out and spot enemies and a diving bell. Run forward, pick up a bundle of harpoons (22) and a large Medi Pack (23). Run around to the opposite side and pick up a bundle of harpoons (24) by the fire sign.

Lara should be able to lure at least one of the two SL Inc. scuba divers (6) up into the pool by taking running jumps back and forth of the pool. When the diver emerges, draw weapons and open fire while jumping side to side to evade the diver's harpoons.

If the other scuba diver (7) is swimming too close to the window, then Lara will not be able to lure him up into the pool, so she will have to ready the harpoon gun and hunt him down. When the divers are dead, return to the room with windows on three sides so Lara can catch her breath and orient herself.

Notice the side of the structure with the netting and the darkness beyond. Swim down and toward the netting and upward. Spin all the way around, swim up to the top of the yellow structure and grab some grenades (25) from on top of the structure. Turn left and swim to the steel beam held by the crane and pick up a rocket (26) from the beam.

Flip turn, swim down and reenter the yellow structure for air. This time swim toward the crane. Swim to the right side of the crane and turn upward. Swim straight up toward the ceiling of this underwater cavern and turn right.
Circuit Bulb #1
Locate a small side cavern near the ceiling of the larger cavern and swim inside. Pick up a box of flares (27) and the first Circuit Bulb (28). Turn around and swim to the bottom of the yellow structure, and enter it to allow Lara to catch her breath.

Swim down toward the crane. Swim past the crane and locate the lights on the floor of the cavern. Follow the lights, and when Lara nears the third light, another diving bell will descend and release two more SL Inc. scuba divers (8, 9). Grab the bundle of harpoons (29) and return to the safety of the yellow structure for air.

Try to lure the divers up into the pool, or dive down and take them out. When things are safe, dive back into the water and swim toward the crane. Swim past the crane and follow the lights. When Lara reaches the third light, turn and swim upward toward the ceiling of the cavern.
Circuit Bulb #2
Locate the opening in the ceiling of the cavern and surface in the small diving bell that is embedded in the ceiling of the chamber. Pull out of the water and pick up a small Medi Pack (30) and a second Circuit Bulb (31).
SECRET #2
Drop into the water and swim all the way down to the lights. Turn and follow the lights toward the second diving bell. Swim past the yellow door that is marked restricted, and turn left to locate a small underwater tunnel just past the door.

Swim into the tunnel, which is SECRET #2, and follow the tunnel until it reaches a larger underwater tunnel that leads up to the right. Swim straight ahead into the tunnel in the floor of the cavern. Turn right, swim down and surface in a small chamber and climb out.

Pick up a bundle of harpoons (32), a small Medi Pack (33), and another bundle of harpoons (34). Drop back into the water, and swim down the underwater tunnel and turn left to exit the tunnel. Swim forward, grab the box of flares (35), and turn left.

Swim forward to the shotgun shells (36), but don't pick them up right away. Turn right so that Lara is not facing up the tunnel. Grab the shells, and a submersible vehicle will come sliding down the hill, so quickly swim forward to avoid it.

The submersible will crash through the wall of the cavern, so turn right and swim through the opening that the submersible created. Swim forward to find an old sunken German U-boat, U-740. Lara can surface for air in a small air space near the top of the submarine.
Desert Eagle
Swim down and along the top of the submarine toward the front of the submarine. Along the way, pick up two pairs of Desert Eagle clips (37, 38), and then the Desert Eagle (39) pistols themselves. Return to the air space for air.

Dive back down and swim to the yellow submersible. Swim through the opening that the submersible created, and forward. Turn right when Lara returns to the underwater tunnel that leads into this area. Swim through the tunnel and turn right.

When Lara reaches the second light, turn and swim upward and return to the opening in the ceiling and surface for air back in the small diving bell.
Dive back down and follow the lights back to the crane. Swim past the crane back to the yellow structure. Swim into the bottom of the structure and surface in the pool. Pull up into the structure and run around to the side of the room that faces the netting.

Place the yellow circuit bulb in the yellow receptacle on the right and the blue circuit bulb in the blue receptacle on the left. This will open a yellow door marked "Restricted Area". Dive back down and swim toward the crane. Follow the lights to the newly opened door.

Enter the underwater doorway, which will open up into a wider tunnel that slopes upward. Swim straight ahead and surface in the tunnel. Turn left and pull up out of the water. Run down the hallway until Lara comes to a oval window on the left.

Lara will find a SL Inc. guard (10) in the research laboratory. Draw pistols and fire a few shots to alert him. He will activate an alarm and open the door to the research lab to attack. Charge at him with weapons drawn. Fire, run past him, reverse roll and repeat until he falls.

Just inside the research lab, turn right and head to the alcove. Pick up the small Medi Pack (40), and a box of flares (41). Turn and head toward the radar screen, being careful to avoid the trapdoor in the middle of the chamber.

Run around radar screen and pick up a bundle of harpoons (42). If Lara falls into the trapdoor, she will have to swim back around to the sloping tunnel and pull out into the hallway again.

Run around the radar screen to the blue button on the same side of the lab as the doorway. Push the blue button to open the gates at the end of the hallway outside. Exit the research lab and turn left.

Run forward and turn left. Run half-way down the glass tunnel until Lara reaches the red wheels. Turning each wheel will open a steel door in the waters outside and release one of two mutant barracudas (11, 12). Lara can either release both of them or one at a time.

The best way to deal with them is to release one, return to the main hallway, and turn right. Run forward and reenter the research lab and turn left. Drop through the trapdoor and swim forward, through the small opening to return to the sloping underwater tunnel. Swim upward while taking a hairpin turn to the left.

Surface, pull out of the water, and draw pistols. If Lara is lucky, she will have lured the beast to the shallow end of the tunnel, where she can fire on it from the safety of dry land. Repeat until both are dead.

Run back down the hall, past the research lab, and turn left at the glass enclosed tunnel. Run forward, down the slope, to the end of the tunnel and pick up a small Medi Pack (43). Reverse roll, step forward, turn left and pick up a rocket (44).

Reverse roll, step forward and turn left. Run back out of the tunnel and turn right. Run forward, turn right and reenter the research lab. Turn left and run forward to drop into the trapdoor. Swim forward and to the right of a support column.

Swim forward to an alcove formed by the walls of this cavern and turn left. Pick up a bundle of harpoons (45), and turn Lara upward. Swim forward, turn left, and dive back down. Return to the hole in the bottom of the research lab for air.
SECRET #3
When Lara has caught her breath, swim toward the far corner of the cavern near the end of glass enclosed tunnel. Behind the third support of the tunnel, which is the shortest of the three supports, Lara will find a tunnel leading downward.

As Lara swims part way down into the tunnel another mutant barracuda (13) will emerge and attack. Swim out of the tunnel, cross the underwater cavern and head toward the opening that leads to the sloping tunnel. Either attempt to lure the beast to the shallow end of the tunnel where Lara can shoot at it with pistols, or reenter the underwater cavern with harpoon gun drawn to kill it directly.
Grenade Launcher
When it's dead, make sure Lara has caught her breath and reenter the small downward sloping tunnel near the far corner of the underwater cavern and swim down into the tunnel. Pick up a large Medi Pack (46), some grenades (47), and the Grenade Launcher (48), which is SECRET #3.

Quickly flip turn, and swim back up through the sloping tunnel, cross the underwater cavern and return to the hole in the bottom of the research lab for air.
Mutant Sample #1
Dive down into the water and swim to the right doorway that Lara opened earlier with the red wheels. Enter the short tunnel and pick up the first Mutant Sample (49). Flip turn, swim forward, out of the tunnel, and turn right.
Mutant Sample #2
Turn right and enter the other doorway and pick up a second Mutant Sample (50). Follow the tunnel as it turns to the right and downward. When Lara reaches the test chamber, angle to the right and surface.

Pull out of the water at the low step and run to the opening between two signs. Turn right and run down the slope into the lower holding chamber. In the cages, Lara will find various partial mutants. As soon Lara enters the room, turn right and pull the green crate once to reveal a machine behind it.

Turn left and run across the room and then angle Lara to the right and run forward between the cages. Pull the other green crate once and then run around it to find a pair of Uzi clips (51).

Turn around, run forward, and turn left. Run forward and angle Lara to the right and run to the machine to the right of the sloping tunnel that leads into this chamber. Place the red mutant sample into this machine to activate it.

Reverse roll, run forward, and turn right. Run between the cages and turn right. Run to the other machine and place the blue mutant sample into the machine to activate it and flood a chamber elsewhere.

Reverse roll, run around the cages, and exit this holding chamber through the sloping tunnel. Draw weapons, run forward, up the stairs and turn right. Run forward and turn right when Lara reaches the fence. Run forward and turn left and run into the next chamber.

Take aim on another SL Inc. guard (14) and take him out by charging at him with guns blazing, running past him, reverse rolling and repeating. Continue this process until he falls, and pick up the small Medi Pack (52) that he drops.

Follow the platform around the room until it goes underneath another ledge. Jump up and grab the upper ledge and pull up to that ledge. Turn left, run forward following the ledge, and turn left to pick up a rocket (53).
The Hand of Rathmore
Take a hop backwards and jump up and grab the ledge above. Step forward and pick up a pair of grenades (54). Dive into the pool below and pick up the Hand of Rathmore (55), which will open an underwater door on the right.

Turn right and swim into the next chamber where a dolphin is being kept. Swim past the middle of the chamber and turn left. Pull the underwater lever to open the next underwater doorway, and letting another mutant barracuda (15) into the chamber. Either harpoon the barracuda or retreat to the previous chamber and pull out of the water to shoot at it with pistols.

When it's dead, swim into the tank that it was swimming around in and pick up a pair of Uzi clips (56) in the corner near the glass that faces the holding chamber. Turn around and swim back toward the doorway that Lara opened with the lever. Swim upward, through a small opening in the ceiling. Swim through a tall vertical chamber until Lara can swim up a small shaft in the ceiling of this chamber.

Pull up out of the water, and step forward. Vault up onto the sloping platform beyond. Two old British war planes will fly by. Take a jump toward the inflatable boat, and Lara will cross the rest of the English Channel to reach shores of France.

  2. You can press the look key to end the little cut-scene showing the diver entering the water. I've tried a few different tactics, and the most effective is to just charge at the scuba diver, while firing harpoons.
