Escape with the Iris
Items: 19
Kills: 0
You've left the research areas of the VCI tower, but now you have to Escape with the Iris. That's not so straightforward a task, so here are some hints.
Be a Good Girl
And follow instructions. Charging through the security checkpoint carrying your guns will cause all heck to break loose. Best be a good girl, and follow instructions.
The Hard Way
Nothing comes easy. The elevators are blocked by a bank of invisible lasers, so that direction's out. Heading the other way will lead you to a guard. Dealing with him will directly while unarmed will be hazardous to your health. Search the offices along the hallway to find something to use against him. Search all the offices for various goodies, but your primary goal is to get into the executive washroom.
Using the Facilities
In order to get into the executive washrooms, you need the combination to the electronic combination door. When you find the access card, you don't actually use it, but rather just look at it for the combination. Once inside, search around until you find a loose ceiling tile you can yank down.
Elevated Status
A little crawling and climbing will take you to the elevator shaft. Recall that your goal is to head to the roof. There's a couple of ways to get to the chain, but the goal is to climb up on top of the two elevators. Then, you have to get inside one of the elevators. You've seen it done in the movies, so you should know how it goes.
Going Up
The first elevator you get into doesn't go any higher than this floor, but the other elevator does proceed to the higher floors, however that's where your troubles begin.
Going Down
Okay, you're unarmed and running around under fire by a handful of well-armed guards. Zip may or may not chime in with some help, but let me quote him if he doesn't provide any clues, "Close the doors! Close the doors quick!" But that's only half the problem. With the elevator in freefall, you're going to need to do something to slow the descent of the elevator, or you're headed for a fiery death. Look around you. There's not much in that elevator. It should be pretty clear.
Two Steps Back
Not only have you not made it to the roof, you're further away than when you started. Time to try again. Head back up into the elevator shaft via the hatch in the ceiling of the elevator. Now start your elevator shaft gymnastics. Your goal is a little crawlspace high up in the shaft.
Olympic Gold
After you reach the crawlspace, you'll find that it just leads to a duct that dumps you into an incinerator. What is required is more gymnastics, and then a little circus tight rope walking to get you access to the lobby again. Too bad you'll get no prize for your performance. There's a guard patrolling the lobby outside, so run away!
Clay Duck
When you reach the middle level of the atrium you will find that you will be in the sights of a sniper. Keep near the walls to stay out of his line of fire. There's a doorway blocked by lasers. The button that deactivates the lasers is high up on the wall above the door. Look around at the upper ledge that runs the circumference of the room. It should be quite plain how you get up there.
Shocking Development
The room at the end of the hallway that was formerly barred by the bank of lasers has electrified floors. To open the steel doors on the right, you have to push the little button beside the door. Wait! There's that problem with the electrified floors. There's that big aquarium at the back of the room, and water and electricity don't mix. If only you can figure out some way to break open that aquarium.
No Sudden Movements
Zip explains why you shouldn't make any sudden movements. Just press the two buttons and get out before trouble breaks in. Beyond the room, you're safe to break into a full sprint. Duck into the teleporter room to evade your pursuers.
X-Ray Vision
You need a disc to activate the device in this room. The disc you need can be found in the adjacent room. The trick is that of the seven cases in that room, only one contains the disc, while the other six contain bombs. You could take your chances, but you can significantly increase your odds by finding the broken ceiling tile near the entrance to this room. With the disc in hand, you can activate the computer console that activates the device. You're already carrying the other item that powers this device.
Silent Race
After getting teleported away, you'll wander and yourself in a position to spy on guard. After getting the code, you basically have to follow after him and knock him out before he makes his rounds again. This is no easy task. You must walk whenever he is in earshot of you, and you must grab him while he is surveying the security checkpoint beyond the door. For details, you should consult our walkthrough for this level.
New Beginnings
Deactivate the X-ray sensors in the security checkpoint, and you'll be ready to exit the security checkpoint. A little crawling and climbing and you'll be back to where you started his little escapade. Now that the security checkpoint is deactivated, you can retrieve your weapon and head down the hallway. The bank of lasers still block access to the elevator, so that's not the way to go. Here's your hint: Fire extinguishers explode when you shoot them. Sometimes they blow up stuff near them.
