Once Lara steps into the chapel that she agreed to meet Father Patrick at, she will find that she is trapped inside, and Father Patrick is nowhere to be found. Reverse roll, and angle Lara slightly to the right. Run along the length of the pew toward the closed iron grate.

Suddenly a cold wind will tear through the chapel from behind. Lara spins around to investigate the source of the wind to find a cloaked figure. It reaches out its bony fingers as it glides toward Lara. It glides toward Lara faster than she can react, giving her a clear view of its skeletal face.

However, instead of attacking Lara, it merely glides past and continues on toward the closed iron grate. It pauses only briefly, and then passes right through the iron grate. It enters the crypt beyond, and pauses near the corner of a pew. It reaches out with its long bony fingers and takes hold of a jeweled knob mounted on the corner of the pew. The figure turns it, looks toward the adjacent wall, and pauses. After a moment, it turns and passes right into the wall that it was formerly gazing at.


Run forward, away from the iron grate back along the length of the pew, and turn left. Run forward and to the left of the column. Continue through the chapel between the two columns and angle Lara to the right.

Run past the two staggered pews and turn left. Run to the wall at the front of the chapel where there are three carved stone panels. Push the tiles in order. First push the middle tile with the carved lattice. Then push the panel to the left with the carving of the creature. Then push the panel on the right with the carved bearded face1.

When Lara pushes the third panel, a presence passes through the chapel, pushing pews aside as it goes. Lara finds that the iron grate is now open. In the crypt beyond, lies a skeleton holding a sword.

Turn left and walk along the front of the chapel toward the laver. As Lara passes the middle panel a ghostly skeleton wielding a sword will be floating in front of the pew. If Lara steps too close to the skeleton, it will take a swing at her, so stay close to the front wall of the chapel and move forward until she reaches the laver.

Turn left and run forward until Lara reaches the second pew. Turn left and run forward between the two pews. Slow Lara down to a walk when she reaches the end of the pew on her right. Walk forward until another ghostly skeleton appears ahead of her, and turn right.

Walk forward between the wall and the wooden column to avoid a third ghostly skeleton that will be guarding the area between the two wooden columns. Angle Lara to the right after she is past the wooden column and walk along the length of the pew.

When Lara reaches the end of the pew walk forward until she reaches the angled pew ahead and turn left. Walk along the pew toward the back wall while staying as close to the pew as possible. There will be another ghostly skeleton hovering behind the wooden pillar on the left.

Take a hairpin turn to the right when Lara reaches the end of this last pew. There will be another ghostly skeleton hovering at the back wall of the chapel. Avoid it by staying as close to the end of the pew as possible.

Run forward toward the newly opened iron grate when Lara is out of reach of the last ghostly skeleton. Enter the crypt adjacent to the chapel and turn right. Run to the end of the pew where the jeweled knob is mounted on the corner of the pew and examine the jeweled knob2.

Lara pops the jeweled knob off the pew, and looks inside to find an object. She quickly pops it into her backpack.
Bone Dust
What Lara has found in the jeweled knob is a bag of bone dust (1). Side step around the end of the pew and continue forward to where the skeleton with the sword lies and pick up a small Medi Pack (2).

Reverse roll, and run forward to the pew with the jeweled knob. Run around the pew and turn right. Run forward, turn left and step back out of the crypt. Walk forward along the pew and take a hairpin turn to the left around the end of the pew to avoid the ghostly skeleton at the back wall.

Run forward and turn right when Lara is past the wooden pillar. Run along the wooden pew until she reaches the wooden pillar. Walk between the wooden pillar and the wall to avoid the ghostly skeleton hovering between the two pillars.

Run straight ahead until Lara reaches wooden pew at the front of the chapel. Turn left and run down the length of the pew until Lara reaches the wall. Turn right and run forward until Lara reaches the laver.

Turn left and pour the bone dust into the [thing that holds holy water]. The bone dust will burst into flames and suddenly the five ghostly skeletons will be banished from the chapel. Each one bursts into flames and floats up out of the chapel.

Reverse roll and run forward to the opposite wall. Turn right and run past the pew at the front of the chapel. Angle Lara to the right and run forward between the two wooden pillars. Continue forward until Lara reaches the back of the chapel. Turn left and run forward through the newly opened gate at the back of the chapel.
SECRET #1
Run forward until Lara reaches the brick wall ahead. Climb up to the ledge above and run forward to the lever. Pull the lever and reverse roll. Run forward and exit through the gate to reenter the chapel.

Run forward, across the back of the chapel. Angle Lara to the right and reenter the crypt. Run around the pew or take a running jump over the pew. Run forward and turn right when Lara reaches alcove where the skeleton lies.

Enter the newly opened gate ahead and pick up a large Medi Pack (3). Continue forward into the tunnel and reach into the niche at the end of the tunnel to find a gold rose (4), which is SECRET #1. Reverse roll, and run forward to exit this tunnel. Turn left and exit the crypt. Run across the back of the chapel and reenter the gate on the other side of the chapel.
Turn left when Lara reaches the end of this tunnel to find a ramp leading down. Step forward and slide down into the room below. A colony of bats will emerge and attack. Immediately reverse roll and Lara will drop through a hole, but grab the edge of the hole to safety drop straight down, past a couple of floors and splash into a small pool. If Lara doesn't grab the edge of the hole, she will fall at an angle and land on the floor below, causing severe damage.

Wait a moment for the bats to disperse3 and surface. Pull out of the small oily pool. When Lara pulls out of the pool, she will hear the rushing sound that indicates the presence of the hooded figure. She looks up and gasps. The figure moves around a few levels up. It enters a tunnel and emerges on a ledge between two carvings of faces with horns. It floats across to a platform with a large book, and then floats across to a ledge between two carved stones. Each stone is carved with a head with three faces.

Reverse roll and run forward to the corner and turn left. Run forward up the ramp toward the torch and notice the carving on the wall ahead. It is of a bearded figure with two horns. Turn left and run forward.

Enter the tunnel ahead and turn right. Run down the ramp and pick up a small Medi Pack (5). Turn left, run down the ramp and out onto a wooden walkway. The area below is bubbling with lava.
SECRET #2
Turn left when Lara steps out onto the wooden platform. Take a running jump from the wooden platform and grab the ledge ahead. Shimmy to the right until Lara shimmies around the corner. Continue shimmying until Lara can pull up.

Reverse roll and side step to the right until Lara's right hand is touching the wall. Take a running jump off this ledge and attempt to grab something. Lara will not actually grab anything, but attempting to do so will cause her to adjust her trajectory and land on a ledge below.

Turn left and enter the tunnel between two carvings of a man's head but having three faces. Run forward up the ramp and turn right. Run up the next ramp and turn left to pick up a gold rose (6), which is SECRET #2.

Reverse roll, run forward, and turn right. Run down the next ramp, turn left and continue forward until Lara emerges back out onto the ledge outside. Turn right and take a running jump and grab the ledge ahead.

Shimmy to the left, around the corner, until she can pull up on the ledge. Reverse roll and take a running jump off the ledge to return to the wooden platform ahead. Turn left to face the tower in the center of the room.
Run forward and pull the switch once. The structure in this room will rotate, causing the platform to line up with another opening in this room. A similar structure in another chamber will also rotate4.

Turn right and run forward along the wooden platform and enter the tunnel that is between the two carvings of a pair of figures fighting. Follow the tunnel as it winds to the left and back to the right and emerges in another chamber.

Follow the wooden ramps as it spirals to the left three times. Notice the carving on the wall beside the unlit torch has a image of two figures fighting. When Lara reaches a tunnel opening, turn right and enter it.

Follow this tunnel as it winds left and back to the right. Continue forward and Lara will emerge in another larger chamber with a rotating bridge. Run forward along the wooden platform to the rotating central structure, but ignore the lever for now. The floor of this chamber will ignite if Lara falls down onto it.

Turn right and run down the length of the platform and enter the tunnel between two carvings of a masked figure wielding a spear and shield. Follow the tunnel as it winds to the left and back to the right and emerges in another chamber with spiraling wooden platforms. The walls of this chamber are decorated with carvings of the masked figure wielding a spear and shield.

Run forward and follow the wooden platforms as it winds upward and turning to the left twice, past a flaming torch and another tunnel, and left two more times, where it reaches the ceiling of the chamber. Crouch down, crawl forward and grab the small Medi Pack (7) wedged between the platform and the ceiling.

Back out of the crawlspace and reverse roll. Run down the wooden platforms, turning to the right once. Enter the tunnel ahead and follow it as it winds upward, to the left and back to the right.

Lara will emerge in another room with a rotating central structure. This time the floor below has holes, from which spikes will protrude if Lara falls onto it. Run forward along the wooden platform to the central rotating structure.
Bestiary
Turn right, step forward and pick up the Bestiary (8), which is the large book that the hooded figure floated past earlier. When Lara picks up the book the door ahead will open.

Take a standing jump to the ledge ahead. Run forward and climb up onto the ledge between the two carvings of heads with three faces. Enter the tunnel and turn right. Run forward and drop down to the room ahead.

Step forward and turn left. Run forward to enter another chamber. There are some dancing lights floating around in this chamber. These lights will guide Lara. First, run forward and turn right to pick up a large Medi Pack (9).

Reverse roll, and run back up the ramp. Turn left and run up onto the ramps. Follow the dancing lights by running up the ramp and turning left. Continue forward to find that the ramp is broken and ends.

Turn left and angle Lara to take a running jump up to the next ledge. Turn left and continue forward to the end of this ledge.
SECRET #3
Angle Lara to the left and take a running jump to grab the wooden beams mounted below the ledge ahead. Aim Lara for the part of the wooden beams that slant downward.

Turn Lara to the left and swing forward. When Lara reaches the end of the beams, release and grab the bottom of a crawlspace. Pull up into a crouched position and crawl forward until Lara reaches a spiked pit. Turn all the way around and have Lara lower herself over the edge of the pit, but do not release.

Shimmy to the right until Lara shimmies around two corners and can pull up to a ledge that is opposite to the crawlspace that Lara first crawled in from. Pull up into a crouched position and crawl forward and pick up a gold rose (10), which is SECRET #3.

Crawl backwards and have Lara lower herself over the edge of the pit and shimmy to the left until Lara shimmies around two corners and can pull up into the crawlspace. Pull up into a crouched position and rotate until Lara is facing the pit. Crawl backwards and have Lara lower herself out of the crawlspace.

Turn left and angle Lara to take a running jump to the upper ledge. Follow the ledge and turn left and continue until Lara reaches the end of this ledge.
Turn left and take a standing jump and grab onto the thin wooden platform. Pull up and turn left. Turn around and take a standing jump across to another wooden platform. Turn left and follow the ledges upward as they wind to the left three times until Lara reaches the top of this chamber.

Turn right and step forward to slide down a ramp. Follow the tunnel as it winds to the left and back to the right. Lara will emerge in a labyrinth. As Lara steps into the labyrinth, the labyrinth beast (1) will be released into the labyrinth from the left.

Just keep following the lights to navigate the labyrinth. Start heading forward, and jumping over an opening5. Turn right at the next intersection and follow the lights as they turn left.

Take another jump over an opening and follow the lights as the move forward and turn left again. Take another jump over an opening and proceed forward. Follow the lights as they turn left once again. Jump over another opening and follow the lights as they turn right.

They will stop at a ramp that leads downward into the darkness. Turn left and step forward onto the steep ramp. Lara will slide down the ramp and end up in a room adjacent to the room that Lara first entered from the chapel.

Step forward and pick up the large Medi Pack (11) from the shallow pit in the middle of the room. Continue forward to the open coffin ahead.

Lara examines the open coffin and cautiously steps through. She slips and falls ungracefully down a steep ramp and lands on her face. She lets out a grunt of pain and starts to get on her feet.

As she works her way onto her knees, she turns to find white-haired figure in black robes holding a torch. She stumbles backwards away from the figure, which suddenly turns around. Lara finds that the figure is Father Patrick, and his hair has gone completely white.

Father Patrick is somewhat surprised by Lara's jumpy behavior, and tells her, "Good Lord, girl. It's me." He helps Lara to her feet. "I've enough on me plate without you making me jump outta me skin, Lara."

Lara looks up and points to the top of his head, "Your hair..."

"What about me hair?" Father Patrick asks.

"It's... white!" Lara replies.

"Hmm..." Father Patrick mumbles as he plucks a strand off his head to examine it. "Aye. That'd be right," He agrees. "I was detained by some unpleasant fellows from down below. Gave me quite a fright," He chuckles pleasantly. "That's why I wasn't at the chapel, but I can see you've kept yourself busy. Anyways, let's get you outta here, and back to safety."

Father Patrick gestures and Lara walks on ahead of him as they exit the labyrinth together.(

  1. Okay, I found this sequence only by trial and error. If someone can provide me some reason for this order, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts.

  3. The funny thing is that the bats will actually dive right into the water, but they won't inflict any damage while Lara is in the water.

  4. Okay, its clear that the developers didn't work too hard at matching up the cut scenes with what actually happens. The structure in this chamber will rotate 90 degrees from connecting to a ledge that is between two carvings of faces with horns to a ledge that is between two carvings of a pair of figures fighting. In the cut-scene, we see one of the structures rotate 90 degrees from a platform between two carvings of a pair of figures fighting to a platform between two carvings of a masked figure holding a spear and a shield. The structure that rotates in the second scene shows a structure rotating 90 degrees from a platform that is between two carvings a masked figure wielding a shield and spear to a platform between two carvings of the head with three faces. Just assume that the structure has rotated and leave it at that.

  5. If you fall into one of these pits, all is not lost. It just means more wandering around for you. The maze is a simple "straight-through" maze rather than a "find the center" maze. This means you can use the "right turn rule" (or left turn if you prefer) which simply means you make your way through the maze keeping your right (or left) hand against the wall the whole time. Whenever you come to an intersection, you turn right. Eventually you will find your way out.
