The Base
Items: 17
Kills: 10
The Base at Zapadnaya Litsa is Russia's largest submarine base.
Sights to See
The Zapadnaya Litsa submarine base lies just 45 kilometers from the Norweigian border on the Kola Peninsula. The nuclear vessels of Russia's Northern Fleet operate from the five naval bases on the peninsula. Some of the bases also have additional facilities, which form a total of seven base sites for the operation of nuclear vessels.

The two primary reasons for the construction of naval bases on the Kola Peninsula were the proximity of the area to the Atlantic Ocean and the country's need for access to ice-free harbours. Most of the area bases were built after the Second World War, and during the Cold War, the development and construction of nuclear submarines and various missile systems received the highest priority.

You will only be exploring a small section of the base, which consist of a warehouse, a loading dock, and a submarine berth. Significant parts of this base has fallen into deep disrepair since the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union. Watch your step. Not just for the crumbling buildings, but also for the guards on duty.
Base Guards
As you explore the base you will encounter Russian soldiers, snipers, and guard dogs.
Souvenirs
In order to make your way through the base onto the submarine, you will have to find two silver keys and a swipe card. If you're careful you'll also find the Uzis, a Desert Eagle pistol, and a LaserSight.
Hidden Treasures
There are three secrets to be found. The first can be found if you're simply thorough and shoot when face with unfamilar situations. The second can be readily found if you look around and explore everywhere. The third will require you to be quite thorough.
Hazards
The primary hazard early on at the base is the mechanical claw. It can be quite easily avoided if you know where to hide and keep moving between hiding places. The other dangers will come from the soldiers and dogs. The dogs are aactually worse than the soldiers, but both can be dealt with quite readily.
