The Colosseum
Items: 12
Kills: 9
What visit to Rome can be complete without a visit to The Colosseum?
Sights to See
The Colosseum or Flavian Amphitheater was begun by Vespasian, inaugurated by Titus in 80 A.D. and completed by Domitian. Located on marshy land between the Esquiline and Caelian Hills, it was the first permanent amphitheater to be built in Rome.

The amphitheater is a vast ellipse with tiers of seating for 50,000 spectators around a central elliptical arena. Below the wooden arena floor, there was a complex set of rooms and passageways for wild beasts and other provisions for staging the spectacles.

This visit will not give you much of a view of the Colosseum, but you will get to spend lots of time among the rooms and passageways beneath the Colosseum floor.
Gladiators
While exploring the passageways, you will encounter lions and gladiators. Whether these remnants are the progeny of ancient Roman gladiators, or some crazy cult that are reliving the past, it doesn't matter. Suffice to say that they intend on entering into mortal combat with you, so you shouldn't pull any punches either.
Souvenirs
Your goal is the Philosopher's Stone, but in order to obtain it, you must find two pieces of the Gemstone and two keys to the Colosseum.
Hidden Treasures
There are three secrets. The first can be easily missed early on if you're not observerant of things that are out of place. The second secret involves a significant backtrack. The third can be found simply by not being too rash in your quest for your objective, but take the time to explore.
Hazards
A couple of breakaway floors spell instant death for you, so you should be aware of them and move quickly once you realize you're standing on unstable floors. The lions and gladiators aren't hard to kill, so the rest is just being careful.
